After having just finished the film Kubo and the Two Strings, I immediately sought out a soundtrack album. Unfortunately of the 100 minute film, only 48 (minus the song) minutes of the complete composition appears on album. Being a story driven person, I don't just like the light brush strokes that condensed albums offer but rather the broad brush strokes that tell the whole story, odds and ends and all.

That leads me to another Marianelli score that I've been seeking any sort of expansion on for well over a decade now, The Brothers Grimm. The original album was generously long to start but the presentation is still missing cues that I personally enjoyed from my viewings of the film. Having heard a few later Marianelli works, I feel that this one may be up there as one of his most beautifully strange.

That leads me to my last request: the complete score for Shrooms, because it essentially fits both the odds and ends mold in regards to Marianelli's music in my collection. A very short promo exists and I have it but it's still missing quite a bit. It thrills me to no end to realize that Marianelli scored a bonafide horror movie set in the woods with intense horror movie drug hallucinations as the central plot device. It seems to me like that kind of film would be below Marianelli but his efforts are not wasted and he seems to be having a good time with it.

With the V for Vendetta score leaking, albeit in 192k MP3, I still hold out hopes that at the very least Shrooms will make it down the pipeline, given its more obscure and absurd nature.

Thanks for reading and sharing, if applicable.
