And links received, thanks and much appreciated!

So, this isn't as different as I thought it would be; the main differing attribute I right away notice is the harsher attack and prolonged duration of the decay of the larger string sections; along with more notable uses of plucked strings(?) and harpsichord(?). It's my belief that the more recent modernized executions of these concerti do them better justice, all the while they're in addition more exposing of the composition's wonderful nuances, that which these aren't as revealing of. Regardless, it's really interesting to have the opportunity to hear these as Vivaldi (most likely) did himself. It's an opportunity nearly unbelievable. Perhaps I should seek out some more of these 'historically informed performances' and see how other initial interpretations fare.

Which approach actually serves the music best? As you yourself summed up rather succinctly, there are arguments for both sides, so it ultimately comes down to one's personal preference.

Unless you have the same instruments that were used in Vivaldi's era, even the same instruments that are made nowadays with the same materials will have variations on execution of the notes

Im not commenting for the links but to ask whats the difference between these types of ripping. I recently started to use EAC to rip in flac but i thought that there are no sub-categories of flac files.

SACD Audio 5.1 Surround Sound Lossless: 96kHz/24-bit
FLAC + 10% Recovery Info = 6.67 gigabytes download
(split into 10 parts, 700 megabytes each)

SACD Audio 2-Channel Lossless: 96kHz/24-bit
FLAC + 10% Recovery Info = 2.52 gigabytes download
(split into 4 parts, 700 megabytes each)

Standard CD Audio Lossless: 44.1kHz/16-bit
FLAC + 10% Recovery Info = 641.1 megabytes download

wow. The file size difference is huge! It is worth it?
Anyway, i dont want to go off topic, so i would like to know whats the difference between these files. Please dont use advanced terms because i know nothing exept what stereo and mono is :D Thanks in advance for your time.

This has been re-upped AND REMASTERED and is available for download again.

When I first uploaded this last year, it was at 96 kHz for the SACD layer. Since then, I have learned that it is better to rip SACDs at 88.2 kHz, because that way the waveform is proportional to the original DSD signal, which results in smoother sound at the higher frequencies. I don't know if it will make an audible difference to anyone, but especially considering that it also makes for slightly smaller .flac files, I figured it would be a good move to make, regardless.

(The links are in the OP now. Im not doing links via PM anymore. That absolutely wore me out.)

Happy listening. https://drive.google.com/uc?export=download&id=0B6U4A_vYuii5SHRvVkhuNHlRbFk

the link for - part 07 of the Surround archive is giving server errors. am unable to d/l that one.Sorry about that, I'm getting it too, don't know what MediaFire's problem is. It's very late here at my location, and I have to get up early, so I need to get in bed. I'll check it again first thing tomorrow, and if MediaFire is still being a problem, then I'll try recompiling the archive at a slightly different setting and re-up it to attempt to force MediaFire to allow the download. If that doesn't get the job done, then I might have to find an alternative host. We'll see what happens, stay tuned.

OK, MediaFire is still having problems with Part 7 of the Surround Sound files, so I am recompiling the archive with slightly different settings (to force MediaFire to re-allocate the archive instead of simply continuing to reference the already existing files which they are having problems with), and as soon as I have those new files uploaded, I'll update the OP with a new set of links for the Surround Sound option. In the meantime, I'm sorry about the inconvenience, hopefully it'll be fixed soon.

Update - I got the new archive files created and they are currently uploading. It'll take a while since it's still 6.52 gigabytes, but I'll have a new set of links posted as soon as possible.

Update 2 - OK, I have a new set of links posted for the Surround Sound download, with apologies to jakahiy11 and/or anybody else affected by the problem.

I loaded each of the new links individually into my browser (Firefox) and they all appeared to access correctly on MediaFire, which the old link # 7 would not do, so hopefully everything will work fine from this point.

Let me know if any of you guys have anymore problems, however.

(FYI, the .flac files are exactly the same as before, they're just simply zipped a little differently now.)

Hi Bob,

No worries mate. A very big "thank you" to you for all the hard work you've done. :-)

Thank you once again.
