Ron Goodwin is best remembered for his excellent 1960s & 70s film scores, especially “Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines”, “The Battle of Britain”, Alfred Hitchcock’s “Frenzy” and the Margaret Rutherford “Miss Marple” series. But Goodwin was also a superb arranger & conductor and recorded many best selling pop instrumental albums for EMI of his arrangements of standards and his own compositions with his virtuoso Ron Goodwin Orchestra. One of these albums, Goodwin’s 1967 Holiday classic, “Christmas Wonderland” is the basis for this download, which was DSD archived and remastered from a fairly clean EMI UK LP. If you are not familiar with this album, which showcases some of Goodwin’s most magical arrangements of Holiday standards and carols, you are in for a splendid Holiday treat.
