I do that a lot for some of my own music when I'm looking for that effect. That method can sound cool for some things, but really bad and distasteful for others. Seems to be the latter in this case. That just isn't something you do, for a film score especially.

I didn't hate the movie, at least first watch, and enjoyed the score. Pity I can't get it in physical form anytime now.

Charles Scott. And it's not a remix necessarily, it's an amazing arrangement of Giacchino's theme (which more often than not doesn't quite muster up much energy in the film itself).

Yeah! It's just stupid fun. I normally don't enjoy that, but on account of some cosmic interference this movie connected with me somehow. And I say this as someone who doesn't even care for the original JP film.

I liked it the first watch. The action managed to get me on the edge of my seat.. that was, the first time. Any other watch. I don't like it as much now. The score, only a few cues are good, as Skelly said. As for military raptors? Worst idea ever.

But you know what's the worst? That the sequel is gonna be another "woo, we Earth people are so mean, using animals (that don't even exist anymore) for bad uses" etc another apologetic of animal abuse, etc.. like in other thousand of movies. I know the humanity sucks, I don't need ANOTHER movie to tell me the same thing again!

I wonder if this is how all the Zimmer haters feel. I always try to put it in perspective and relate to them, but it is my honest to God opinion that every score of his is unique and different from any other. And I also love almost every one of is scores. Giacchino I feel is starting to sound the same. I would say maybe his Star Trek scores stand out (and I AM a fan of those) among all of his works. Anything else, if you asked me I couldn't tell you what score of his I'd be hearing.

That does remind me of those people that have criticized Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells II for being the first album again, but altered enough to count as being "different." While I can understand that mind set when comparing the two, I honestly do think that Mike did improve the flaws of the original to make an LP that displays how much he's grown as a stellar musician. I just can't say the same for III (though it's not bad).

I still do think Zimmer is not that great, in that he makes electronic music look bad. Still, I'd be open to something more from him.

I seriously think anybody who's not heard Giacchino's Medal of Honor scores is missing out and literally needs to listen to them. Those scores are definitely his best work, and are, without a doubt, masterpieces. They stand up with Williams' Indiana Jones scores (I am not kidding). I don't shut up about them for a reason. :p

And I like Zimmer. The way he uses electronic elements in his film scores (when he does) is pretty cool, that which you don't hear too often in film scores.

That's exactly it. The first one I ever played, and probably the shortest one of the scores he did for the series (5 tracks), though the game's collective amount of music spanned much of the scores for the first two games.
