Third time's the charm.

The new version of the Advance/Battle collection is significantly improved from the prior version. Make sure to toss the old rip after you download this one.

Features/Process:
-Instead of editing an entire song as a whole, I've rendered each instrument in each track individually
-Separated all key parts of the drum kit and breakbeats from one another (notice each drum/tom/hi-hat/cymbal are panned rather then mono)
-Songs have custom automation with panning and volumes
-Modulation in some tracks have been removed such as the wobbly Rhodes in Secret Base Act 1 & 2
-No more overbearing bass
-Different reverb/delay effect on each instrument
-Electric guitars have been amped
-Mixed main instruments and drums
-For fun I've remade the Sonic Advance 2 trailer theme (not 100% accurate in the intro)

Here's an little sample from the SA3 Title theme: (the first version is the original GBA, second is my old crappy rip, and third version is the current rip)
saab3sample.mp3 (https://app.box.com/s/z9is3xwm40bvpx631zacxwh06v35k0p4)

Enjoy!

UPDATE 1 (11-28-16)
-"40 VS Menu (Single-Pak)" is now it's actual track
-"43 VS Menu (Multi-Pak)" replaced by its 16-bit duplicate (original duplicate was 24-bit)

So you basically reconstructed the music of the games, by using all the instrment assets?

Doesn't sound too bad. It's prolly faithful to how the original would've been without the GBA compression

Yes and It's not faithful 100% with panning and volumes specifically.

This isn't the arrangements from the demo reel I posted earlier this year if that's what you mean. If I actually finish those, I would probably release those in a different manner then a typical game rip. This is a redo of my old gamerip I started last month using mixing techniques I've learned over the past couple years.

Your work is impressive and it's worth the time and effort you put on it. But my only question is to why you do this with all the games EXCEPT Sonic Pinball Party and Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis

Do you REALLY want to see Sonic Genesis given this treatment? Like seriously?

No amount of polishing or editing will ever save that disaster of a port nor its music.

EDIT: Anyway, as for this collection, if someone told these were the original masters of the soundtracks I'd believe it because you really outdid yourself with this one !!!!!

Also, I don't think anyone noticed this in the previous versions, but it's about time that you finally fixed Advance 2's Final Boss theme which previously had some instruments missing from the overall melody.

Hey, I hate to be that guy, but it seems like in Sonic Advance 1, There is a Song Duplicated twice: 40 VS Menu (Single-Pak), and 43 VS Menu (Multi-Pak) are the same song.. I think this was a mistake because the original 1-40 VS Menu (Single-Pak) in the 2.0 is a different song entirely...

I'm not sure I would say they sound like original masters since instruments have been horribly compressed on the GBA but I'm glad I could fix this rip to sound somewhat official.

Didn't know about the Advance 2 Final Boss song but I'm not surprised considering the hurdles I've gone through just rendering specific instruments from some tracks. Having to use a completely different program to render one channel of a midi.

Well... then how about Sonic Pinball Party?

I was originally only going to do Sonic Advance 1-3 with this new remaster but then forced myself to do Sonic Battle and the Neo Green Hill Zone remix from Pinball Party. It's extremely tedious to set each instrument in a Midi to mono, render each instrument track one by one, going back to separate drums from the drum kit, properly set all of the rendered tracks in a DAW one by one, using different programs for each process before I can actually edit the track and this is for over 200 tracks. I wasn't willing to squeeze in Sonic Pinball Party after all that maybe I'll include it down the line.

I did think about Sonic Genesis but the game doesn't use the sound engine that SA1-3, SB, Sonic Pinball Party use that would allow me to extensively edit the tracks.

I dont know how i didnt get this sooner but nevertheless excellent rip! :-D

one thing i did notice "knuckles demo" on sonic advance 2 is missing the bouncy "too too" drum sound compared to your original is that intentional?

I can't believe after all these years, no one has managed to rip the music from the Chao Garden. Also, for some reason, the first three notes of the chords when the main melody starts in Neo Green Hill Zone Act 2 seem to be out of tune (around 0:07). In the actual game, it's not, however, looking at the MIDI ripped with GBAMusRiper.... it's complicated. Very complicated. But there's probably a pitch related event that doesn't get reset when it's supposed to be.

I was never hot on the second rip to be honest, but this third rip is amazing. This is a great job youve done from a first listen.

I know its a long shot but do you have any inclination to try and do Pinball Party and the Chao Garden Theme (or any other GBA games) like this?

BCMTUK

I don't think it's at all possible, but one game I've always wanted to hear in higher quality and with stereo panning, is DKC3.

And I don't ever plan too. Sonic Advance on android uses midis and a generic soundfont which sounds worse then Sonic 1 GBA imo.

You're right those instruments are missing that I believe are bongos and a cuica.

I didn't notice until now it's due to the modulation of the guitar chords in the MIDI. Tiny Chao Garden is unrippable with GBAMusRiper. I thought about re-creating the songs but I needed the low-quality banjo sample that isn't in any of the Sonic Advance games.

Maybe in a fourth rip. Don't know about Chao Garden music though.

Would be great but Rare used a custom audio engine that's unrippable with the current tools. Maybe in 100 years I'll complete these rearrangements (https://app.box.com/s/uamjigxdksx9nlizvx9msw19wy4kr2mj).

Bullshit, if this was complete, you would have included the android version. And before you pull this:

With your first post I thought you were being sarcastic but you've clearly lost your mind to call me a hypocrite and demand the phone port's music. The game doesn't have it's own soundfont. I've heard Neo Green Hill Zone's music on 3 different videos and instruments are different. I'm assuming the game runs its midis through the phone OS' generic soundfont to playback from.

I wasn't being insane or sarcastic. I meant it. You claiming that this is "complete" is a lie. But if you were to include the tracks from the Japanese Google Play release (not the shitty Java or Ngage versions), then you can call it complete.

Wow, I hadn't realized you made an update to this! I had your 2.0 since 2014 and always thought it sounded off. I'm glad I decided to download this because it sounds much better!

Only one issue: the percussion sounds way too loud now. The high-pitched hissing percussion is what I'm talking about. It's like all I can focus on and gives me a headache. Is it perhaps unintentional? Unfortunately I'll have to stick with the gamerip once again because of this. Hopefully you're willing to touch it up in the 4.0 in the future.

In the chance that you can make a couple more tweaks to this collection, this will be the definitive sonic advance remaster to date!! If you can fix some of the artifacts as mentioned earlier then that would be awesome, but to me I think this is still the best version of the Advance soundtracks as of now
