Unlike my last share (Mark Adler's Picture Bride) but like my first few, this is a rip from my own physical CD.

Despite the foreign-sounding name, Zamecnik was actually an American composer born in Ohio, though he spent some time in Prague studying with Dvorak.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Stepan_Zamecnik

This is the new 2012 recording produced for the restoration of this award-winning 1927 film which starred a young Gary Cooper on the cusp of stardom. It was specially arranged/orchestrated by Dominik Hauser, as reflected on the (high res) cover art. This means there are some synthetic elements due to budget, unfortunately, but there are also acoustic instruments (I included the two conductors in the comments tag along with Hauser's credit). There are a few cues which were co-written with another composer, and a few cues which interpolate popular tunes and such. I was a bit torn how to tag all of the tracks, but decided if it was a pre-existing piece being interpolated, I would credit the composer in parenthesis in the track name, but if it was composed for the picture by a different composer, I reflected that in the artist/composer fields (while keeping Zamecnik as "Album Artist" so it all shows up together).

This fulfills a request by stevomufc1, so thank him for spurring me on. I would love rep (with signature) / thanks if you're so inclined, and of course thoughts/feedback are always welcome. I don't have a scanner but I did find some of the booklet as samples on the designer's website:
http://www.warmbutter.com/cds/wings.php

Here is the complete Wings album, in three parts (because it is lossless with HQ covers):

Enjoy, and please say thanks and/or leave rep with your signature!

Hi. I'm interested to hear what a re-recording of a 1927 film sounds like. May I please request a link please? Thanks very much.

Hi. I'm interested to hear what a re-recording of a 1927 film sounds like. May I please request a link please? Thanks very much.

Sadly, not as good as it could have sounded with a bigger budget for full orchestral recording. To me it is noticeable that Hauser started with synths and then augmented with a small orchestra. But that's better than all synth! If you really want to hear new recordings of 20s scores, there are some really good ones out there! In fact I will try to soon do Florent Schmitt's Salaambo which is an awesome score and fully orchestral in the recording (although sadly suites instead of a full reconstruction). Here's a piece with none other than Doug Adams (Lord of the Rings book writer) about it:
https://florentschmitt.com/2014/06/12/film-music-specialist-doug-adams-talks-about-florent-schmitts-salammbo-and-other-music-scores-from-the-silent-film-era/

There's also the awesome Metropolis by Gottfried Huppertz, of course, which has been shared in this forum in several versions (also other Huppertz scores). And I think I will soon share the first substantially original film score by a major composer: Saint-Saens's The Assassination of the Duke of Guise, which he wrote in 1908! Good music! Too bad the era of original scores for silent films is largely forgotten and lots of people think original film music only started with Max Steiner. A myth that couldn't be further from the truth and there was lots of great stuff before he wrote King Kong.

All sent! tmtt, the four trumpet players credited are Jeff Bunnell, Burnette Dillon (with a special separate credit as "trumpet solo"), Wayne Bergeron (principal 2), and the legendary Malcolm McNab (principal 1).

Also for anyone curious, the credited conductors are Ira Hearschen and Peter Boyer. Both names are familiar to me; if the latter is the same Peter Boyer he is a great composer and some of his concert works have been shared in this forum. Very film score-like.
