My Thoughts:
Christopher Tin is one of my favourite composers, and I'm proud to say I own all of his official albums. In "Sogno di Volare" ("The Dream of Flight"), Christopher takes you on a journey from the tip of the cliff and slowly ascends to the heavens in this delightful single. A light jingle to keep you on your feet in the clouds, the song never gets incredibly bombastic, the chanting of ladies and gentlemen carrying the tunes of the orchestra to the height of ecstasy, perfect for a flight through the skies.

Seriously, the man's music is incredible. Have a gander at his site for his other works, you won't be disappointed.

Finally. Thanks!

I felt ripped off because I ordered the expensive deluxe edition that included the FULL soundtrack. But apparently they released the soundtrack with the most important track missing: the main theme. They should have included that in the description.

I refused to pay again for this, so thank you for completing my album.

To say it with Sean Bean (the narrator in CIV 6)

Yep Rufflow I hear you, I was surprised myself when I didn't see the main theme in the soundtrack. At first I assumed Geoff Knorr had done the theme this time like he did for Civ 5, but a bit of research later and I found out that Christopher Tin did the main theme. My assumption is that he wanted to retain the publishing rights for his music, which I can understand, but I was annoyed slightly myself over the fact that the Civ 6 album begins without the series introduction I'm so fond of.

Either way, Tin's music brings joy to my ears so I'll gladly pay extra for it anytime.

And no problem guys, hope you enjoy it!

I read somewhere that Firaxis (the developer) wanted to include it but there was a bitchfight between composer and 2K Interactive (the publisher). The composer would probably ask fees that they didn't want to pay so they left it out alltogether.

Still, as a consumer I don't care. I want the main theme on the official soundtrack I payed for :p

Thanks for sharing!

Disagreement or not, I hope Christopher Tin continues to produce music for Firaxis. And not a problem.

Two completely different recordings and licensing arrangement. The "greedy composer" narrative that 2K seem to be spinning based on the comments above is pure legal BS. The main theme is a live recording and that introduces the extremely sticky matter of paying the musicians, one which does not play nice with the current strategy of soundtrack-as-digital-DLC. It would literally be illegal for the main theme to be released with the rest of the album. Considering that Christopher Tin is the one whose music everyone is so excited about, he deserved your purchase more than the damn bloated profits-dripping game publisher did.

I wrote this is in the original Civ Vi soundtrack thread but I'll repeat it here just in case it inspires anyone else to fund this magnificent man...

You can buy this on iTunes, or in FLAC for the same price at the composer's personal website. It's only $2 for both tracks! He deserves it, and needs our support to keep creating the kind of new classical world music that almost no one else has the opportunity and talent to create. I bought it immediately upon hearing it. This piece really cements Tin as one of the greatest musical minds of the 21st century IMO. Literally no one else in the world is writing in this genre at the same level as he has been since the original Baba Yetu from Civ IV and its companion "Calling All Dawns" album. And he's a suprisingly damn good electronica composer too as evidenced in his other game score from earlier this year, Offworld Trading Company. Presumably someone will post the tracks here or in another thread shortly, and I don't normally moralize about such things, I just love him so much and want to see him go as far as possible

Legal matters are the job of the publisher 2K. Not the consumer. It is perfectly possible to release tracks of different musicians and orchestras on one album. But what I have heard (dunno if it is true) is that since Baba Yetu was such a hit, the composer asked too much money and thought to get away with it. But the publisher basically said "F*Y" and left it of the album.

The album is weird on multiple fronts. It says 25th anniversary soundtrack. You would think it would be some greatest hits collection from those past 25 years. Besides I am not the only one disappointed it wasn't in the official soundtrack. There are multiple threads on this on the Steam forums and reddit.

Anyway. I love the music. Main theme and in-game are all very impressive. The game is also very nice.

I wasn't calling you out or implying you have no reason to complain, quite the contrary. I'm just trying to assign the blame where it belongs because I'm tired of publishers getting away with this deflection BS. The bolded part is simply not true, and it makes me a bit angry that this lie is being repeated. Like you said, it's the job of the publisher to make sure the legal matters are in order. They didn't, because they don't give a damn about either the music, the composer, or the very many players and singers without which a recording of this power and majesty would be hilariously impossible. If the publisher actually cared, none of this would have happened. But since it has caused a minor uproar they are doing what suits always do and deflecting blame towards the actual creators, who deserve to be making far more money than them and instead are making far less.

But continue to support rampant soul-sucking capitalism if that's the world you want to live in, by all means. ;)

Thanks for leaving this up! Also Tin is in the middle of an album kickstarter that will most assuredly have Sogno di Volare on it.
