I've applied the windows xp patch, but I can't start the game. the screen goes black for a second and reverts back to windows. I tried changing settings to software render, but it did me no good. the config thingy tells me I'm failing the 8bit texture test. I'm running xp sp2, radeon 9800 pro with latest drivers. Anybody know how to fix the problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Alexbib, did you shut down and resart your PC after installation, if not, try that, otherwise you may need to do a fresh install.

DavidN, you could try Ebay or Amazon, or if you are strapped for Cash, Torrent reactor may have the files ( you need bittorrent though )

Possibly, or Imesh, but I have more luck getting things through Bit torrent servers

humm, reinstalling the game or restarting the computer won't do any good. It seems to be a graphical problem, as if I don't use the winxp patch, I can get it to start, but I can't see the movie. I get a black screen until I get the the new game/continue screen, and when I start a new game, the screen goes black again and stays black.

i have the same prob...the only way i can get it to work is if i put it in the lowest resolution on software render mode. This makes the game look shitty...but its better than nothing. If i were you, i would stick to psx if you have it

alright, I downloaded the ultima edition from e-mule and it works. Ultima is a slightly tweaked version, and it seems to work perfectly. I had actually bought the game twice, but my lil sister has my playstation and I lost my pc cd's so...
So for those who are having trouble making it work on pc, give ultima edition a try.
