A WARNING TO THE CURIOUS

LINK (http://www.mediafire.com/file/5jz262ul7slu1eb/Ghosties.zip)

1. ATMOSPHERES Symphony Orchestra of the Southwest German Radio (Gyrgy Ligeti)
2. DENSITY 21.5 Severino Gazzelloni (Edgard Varse)
3. CONCERTO FOR CELLO AND ORCHESTRA Hessian Radio Symphony Orchestra (Gyrgy Ligeti)
4. STREICHQUARTETT No. 2 LaSalle-Quartett (Gyrgy Ligeti)

With Hallowe'en just around the corner, I thought I'd upload something appropriately spooky. So here's the soundtrack to the greatest of the BBC's "Ghost Story for Christmas" series. These are all the original recordings used in the film.

Mediafire was playing up (possibly grumbling about copyright) so I had to nest the files within multiple zip folders before it would obey me.

Big thanks for this, my favourite M R James adaptation. Please tell Mr Ager that I have no intention of digging for his crown, so he need not disturb my train journey.

Hey, I think I have this story! But mine is a more recent BBC broadcast, like the last 5-10 years.

And my copy is mere mp3. Your upload is LOOSELESS!

Still, it is a good story.

Thanks for posting this Funky1!

Re: your 'unknowns' - part of the music just around the 27'00" mark sounds a bit like Penderecki's "De Natura Sonoris No. 2". It could be a performance other than the one I'm familiar with, which has amplified percussion.

Ah, fantastic! I've had a quick google - the track was apparently only written in 1971 (just in time!) which means there are only a couple of candidate recordings. I'm a little tied up right now, but will report back in a few days...

I will give this a wee listen today in remembrance of Peter Vaughan who sadly passed away this morning, aged 93. RIP Grouty.

Super stuff - many thanks Funky1&2. The files and info you've put together is fantastic :)

Thanks too for the custom cover Vertigo2016!

These BBC adaptations of M.R. James stories are great and Peter Vaughan is wonderful as always in this one.
He was brilliant as Grouty and I loved him as Winston the Ogre in Time Bandits...
