My transfer from vinyl, at FLAC Level 8. Scans included.

Yet another masterpiece that inexplicably never made it to CD - I gather this is because master-tapes have been lost so it is possible that, barring the unlikely event of re-recording being made, the vinyl LP is as good as it's going to get. Anocha Suwichakornpong posted it in 2014, but unfortunately there was a number of issues with the transfer which made me want to submit my own attempt. Life intervened, and then I forgot - but I have finally finished the transfer this evening and I'm very happy with it.

Minimal work has been undertaken here, keeping with my (hopefully successful) strategy of vinyl restoration which is to try to keep technology OUT of the picture as much as possible. The value of good quality source material and good quality equipment on which to make the transfer cannot be overstated. Enjoy this rare and splendid Jarre score - and wish that somehow the masters magically re-appear and an enterprising record label releases them, rendering this effort completely obsolete!

You're all very welcome! This one was a great pleasure. It's not a "big" score, but I find it very satisfying. A good example of a time where film scores really could function as multi-movement symphonies that tell the story away from the film, as a kind of opera without words. Less was more, and it wasn't necessary to plaster bombastic music over every minute of every scene - say what is necessary, no more, and no less.

Any fan of Danny Elfman's particular style of harmonic and melodic movement will be in their element here.
