Star Trek Symphony No. I: The Classic Series (http://www.mediafire.com/file/dmxx4t8u38of7o3/Symphony_No._1.rar)

Music Composed by
Jerry Goldsmith, James Horner, Leonard Rosenman & Cliff Eidelman

Just as I did with Star Wars Symphony No. 1 and Star Wars Symphony No. 2, I've gone back and redone my work on The Star Trek Symphony. I've split up each film series and focused more on the various elements of each one, expanding upon ideas from each film, and hopefully presenting some cleaner cuts.

I still don't know how to post pictures but here is some cover artwork (https://mega.nz/#!m1o1SBAJ!bXx41mDfBYQVHwYlRA5PimUjOSYM21N2kR79PC7ti8Y) I threw together. But if anybody is able to put something better together please feel free to share it!

Keep an eye out for Symphony No. 2 and Symphony No. 3, and of course my pending Symphony of Middle Earth No. 1!

Well, you shouldn't really call it the classic series, because that would mean the old TV series, not the movies, and it's confusing.

The following tracks seems to be in trouble: Ilia - love lost ; Spock's logical... ; VGer mystery. They are smaller than the other tracks and they all are high volumen noise (watch your tweeters). Would you please check them?

interesting... I am a huge fan of your first pass at this, and your suites of the Goldsmith scores have become my go-to for listening to the original crew film score.

Very excited to hear your updated versions, thanks !

Thank you, JediJon. I very much enjoyed your first pass at these scores! I enjoyed this version too, however I do also feel that it runs a bit long. Indeed, it is a substantial expansion on your original work! The original suites were more focused, delightfully economical, moving the listener on a swift journey through thematic (musical and narrative) highlights of the films. There is so much more added in this version, that I am somewhat more inclined to just listen to the official soundtrack releases. At the same time, I can see why you'd want to draw upon more of the vast wealth of incredible material that's been composed for these films. Perhaps there's a middle-ground between the two edits.

Two questions: I am very interested in how you've combined tracks. Have you considered sharing a tracklist which breaks down the sources you used, perhaps even with a note on why you've made your selections? I'd love to understand your process better :)

Second, I'm eager to hear your opinion of your own work! Obviously, you felt compelled to revisit and expand upon the initial 'release'. How do you feel about each version?

Thanks again for taking the time to share you work with us! I hope my remarks come across as reflective and constructive rather than ungrateful. I appreciate the time and energy you have devoted to these works. And it really is a tremendous joy to revisit these scores from a fresh perspective :)

Thank you so much for your input! I always enjoy hearing what people have to hear. A big reason I expanded was for the same reason I did so with my work for Star Wars. With Star Wars, I felt like the music from each trilogy should stand on its own, with each trilogy having a beginning and end. I wanted to do the same with Star Trek and it's what I'm also doing with The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. There were things I wanted to expand upon yet 50 tracks was already so much in The Star Trek Symphony, so I decided to go back, start from scratch and really just focus on each film series; the classic films, The Next Generation and then the Kelvin series. I agree that my original "symphony" was more focused and economical, so I feel that's a better version for those who want something more streamlined, whereas this is for those who don't mind hearing more of the ideas that are within the film series.

I will work on assembling a list of edits, which will be long, believe me and I will PM that to you unless others here would be interested as well. In which case, I'd happily just post it here. Would you like me to list times and such so you know where and when the edits were made? I hope you don't mind if it takes me a few days or so to do that.

I'm glad you enjoy my work! I'm a huge fan of all the music of Star Trek and Star Wars and want to provide a fresh perspective to this wonderful music!

I'd be shocked (and a little disappointed) if I'm the only person interested in seeing how you edited together the various tracks/cues. There's a part of me that simply enjoys listening to the final product, embracing it as a work in and of itself; but I do tend to feel even more invested in a work when I can appreciate the craftsmanship that went into creating it, particularly in a case like this where you've invested so much thought into crafting these new suites.

A list of times would be fantastic, but I know that also means (considerable) more work for you. I am happy with whatever you feel up to sharing. Indeed, I feel somewhat embarrassed to even suggest that you share something more!

Thank you, again, JediJon. I look forward to your on-going projects!

This is just a start, covering the suites from The Motion Picture. I've listed the cue names as well as their the time they appear within the track. Unfortunately I can't provide the timing of each individual section because each cue was sliced up during the editing process. But I tried to list where each cut was made, hence the Part I and Part II listings, which are the various sections from each cue. Any overlapping times are cross-fades and such.

I will try to provide more in the coming days but I'm focusing heavily on Symphony No. 3 at the moment. I just finished the suites from Star Trek this evening and am about to start Into Darkness.

That's weird. I just finished listening to them through iTunes and don't have any problem at all.

Is anybody else having this same issue?

Someone was reporting my links to Mega so they were all shutdown. I've switched to a new file sharing site (fingers-crossed) and will be slowly re-upping some of my work. It's a bit time-consuming so I'm doing it whenever I get the chance so it may take some time. Just keep an eye out and I'll let you know! Thanks for your patience!
