I can't remember where the topic for this went, but I have found an instance in FFX where Tidus is called by his name! (Euro Edition)

Begin a new game, watch the opening, name your character.
After the scene involving the three kids, wait until the guy (Zanar) stops talking, and walk down the road as normal. There should be a kid in a blue top that says, "You'd better win tonight, or I'll deck you one! Pow!". If you talk to him a second time however he says "I wanna play on your team when I grow up, *Character Name*"!!!

I'm so happy, I can't believe I found it by accident when starting a new game!

They're not spoken though so it doesn't matter what you call him.

This is a false one, I've already tried it, it just says

"Captain Wakka wants to speak to you"

Then when you approach them a second time

"watch your step"

there is no mention of a name

yes there is. i do remember very clearly. i was very shocked at the site of his name. i think when u talk to them like the second time they say tidus, watch ur step

well wut if u played ff7 and named ur cloud ur first name. theres no voice acting in the game so they just programmed it so that ur name will apear instead of clouds. they did the same thing for ffx i guess but im not sure cuz i always name him tidus

I don't think they do, because I call him Tidus (sounds like Tide-us) but his name is really Tidus (pronouced Tee-dus) so I didn't hear at anypart of the game they say Tee-dus. Unless if you guys are still talkin about the European version, cuz i got the American version.

It works with other names too. The second time I played I using my name

Like all other FF's. They would'nt include speech because:

a) FFX would be over about 20 DVD-ROMs
b) The pronouniciation of your name (i.e. JimiF might be pronounced Jim If, rather than Jimi F)
c) The release date would have been a lot later

Yeah, thats the most likely, alright maybe 20 discs was exaggerating slightly. About 4 though. And the release date would have been a lot later!

I don't see why people make a big idea about his name not being said. Or get excited about finding a glitch were his name was in the message.

a) it's very rare, and often by accident you find something like this
b) it's unusual for square not to include the character's name in general conversation

Yeah I mean you go through the whole game without hearing his name. I wouldnt even know how to pronounce it if didn't get the spirits within DVD (Don't kill me)

Same. Tee-dus sounds too... tedious. Not that Tie-dus doesn't sound shit, but it just sounds better.

Right. Kingdom Hearts uses his name out loud, which Final Fantasy X and X-2 did not. In X-2, the characters just say "him" or "you know who" or "you." Oh, and I used to call him Tie-dus, but I'm used to Tee-dus now after hearing it so many times in Kingdom Hearts.

I viewed a very early trailer before the game came out in Japan, and the narrator said Tee-dus. Then when the english versions started coming out, people were saying Tie-dus and it sounded just so awkward.
