Quite simply, I cannot deal with the un-clear graphics. I try, and try to play, but I cant. I had the same prob with FF7 until I bought it for the PC. It just looks insanely blocky, I can hardly see what is goin on. Im curious, how did you people deal with this? It drives me NUTS. Unfourtantly, if I buy it for the PC, ill be drawn to cheat (Yes, im a bad person, but hey, im trying to stick to the PS version). Anyway, like I said, how did you guys manage?

It was kind of bothering because I went from FF 10 graphics to FF 8 graphics. It was a major change. It kind of annoyed me somewhat. But not so much as to drive me nuts.

i dunno, i didnt mind them so much. i liked the graphics as opposed to VII

I eventually got used to it.

Its just very hard, I dont mind the graphics so much, just the blockiness and the fact I cant see much. The PC version is just so much more clear.

At first I didn't mind but after playing it recently I couldn't stand it. I guess after playing more recent games my perception changed ( damn you mercenaries)

Yeah I basically re-played FFVIII after enduring FFX and when I started playing I did'nt remember the graphics in VIII to be kind of blocky. But I just got used to it while I was playing.

Never really bothered me and I played the PC version first. But if you want the PC version, I say go for it. I think playing on the PC is more enjoyable, plus, you also get Chocobo World (not that that's any super-huge bonus.) Just watch out that you don't have any problems with operating system compaibilitiy. It is an old game, but I was still able to get it to work under Windows XP.

Try playing FF 1, if you thought thought that VII and VIII where bad playing 1 would leave you in a state of blurred eyes and whining.

After playing FFX/X-2 for a while the blockiness of the graphics is a lot more apparant than I would've noticed before, but I don't mind at all.

If it's too blocky it doesn't bother me, if i can play it -then it's okay!

I'm just used to it because i've been playing cheezy looking graphic games since i was like little. when i first played ffviii i was upset at the graphix they were soo bad! but now im used to it.

FFX was my first Final Fantasy. After that I played X-2 because I fell in love with the storyline and graphics. Now I am on FFVII and it annoys me how bad the graphics are. Also, some of the things you have to do are very confusing. I can't get as emotionally involved as I did with X because it is so unrealistic.

i also played ffx first, it was my first ff too, then i bought ffx-2, and i got used to good graphics then i bought ff8, and i was kinda annoyed, but, when i saw the fmvs, it kinda soothed me up, and the blocky figures you were saying didn't annoy me at all, and you can see the progress of final fantasy, from blocky, to realistic.

maybe it's cuz you're so into final fantasy that you don't really care if it's block or what, as long as you can play final fantasy.

Poor graphics don;t bother me at all, graphics do nothing for me, for the first hour of hte game I think wow, what crap, then get use to it and don't notice the poor graphics.

I'm currently playing between VI and X-2, so obviously graphics aren't a big factor to me...

I played FFIII when it first came out and I don't care that much about the graphics, but good graphics are a definite plus.

Honestly, I've been playing games so long (think Atari and Intellivision) that I just look at the graphics with a sense of nostalgia. It's just a part of the evolution of gaming. I remember when everyone was blown away by the graphics on the Nintendo.

The graphics aren't as blocky on the PC version (you just have to trust yourself)(though the backgrounds and music are truly lacking compared with the PS version). I just wouldn't let the graphics deter you from enjoying a truly great game.

anyway, if you don't wanna play the game becuase of unclear graphics...why start a whole frigging thread about it???? Case closed.

My dad is obsessed with graphics. He refuses to p[lay console games, even new ones, becuase they r jaggy and come nowhere close to PC standards, which is true. Although i dont care about the graphics, i like it when games look good but it dont bother me when they dont.

Seriously, I have no problems with any graphics. And the graphics from FF-VII and up are good to me. If I played FF-X and start playing FF-IV after that, it'll take a bit to get used to it again. But sorry, I don't have these problems when I play FF-VIII. ;)

People must have spent 100s of hours basically drawing out backgrounds for that game! Every part of the game is a work of art, what is wrong with you people who complain about the graphics in PSone final fantasies??? They have pre-rendered graphics! It looks amazing!
I mean, I went from playing FFX as my first Final Fantasy to FFIX and I was completely flabbergasted, the graphics took my breath away, seriously, everywhere is a piece of art and pre-rendered like those of The psone final fantasies have not been emulated since. What is wrong with you guys?? >:O

the graphics didnt bother me.. i played it once on pc and 2ce on ps2... ff7 graphics bother me but not ff8

I played FFVI after FFX, and initially it felt slightly dull. It was just so more static, but after a while it felt normal. I also remember going back to my old FFVII file and I switched it off after one battle cause I couldn't stand the graphics, but after deciding to start the game again, the graphics also felt normal. Playing FFX again... the graphics don't seem like much of an improvement. Of course, graphics do greatly enhance a game's appeal.

I don't know what your talking about? I don't have a hard time at all focusing on the graphics. Though I personally think that FFVII's graphics are much sharper than FFVIII's.

I guess I'm ok with it because I have a 32 inch tv and my ps2 is hooked up through svideo.....however, I'm also one who still plays my snes(through svideo =) ) often so I dont really get bothered by the graphics. I also think FFVII's graphics were clearer than 8's, and I actually prefer that animation style over 8's.

FF7 was my first ff so im not bothered about the graphics....if its got a good storyline then im not worried about the graphics
