Shostakovich -Symphony 12 – The Execution of Stepan Razin

Two rare 1967 recordings, both made in Leipzig for Philips, of Shostakovich’s 12th Symphony “The Year 1917” and the cantata The Execution of Stepan Razin, respectively released in 1970 and 1972.
The symphony gets a striking performance by the Gewandhaus under the Israeli conductor Ogan Durjan, while the cantata is conducted by Herbert Kegel, known for his recordings of the Orff trilogy,.
These two recordings were compiled in a limited-edition CD in 1992.

Macabre? This is a patriotic symphony and a rousing cantata, not the 13th quartet.

OK. The previous link was wrong. I had uploaded a badly transferred version due to a misuse of EAC. Now I've given a new link. This is the right version. Sorry for the trouble and enjoy.
