Again, so much here. There's so many tracks here I'd like to hear. It's annoying seeing cue lists like this xD

I know exactly how you feel, dude. Those not-so-Special Editions hardly do the score justice. Though not the best film in the Middle Earth series, BOTFA is my favorite score. I may be in the minority there.

BOTFA is a great score. It's a huge shame the Special Editions don't do the Hobbit scores justice. Just look at An Unexpected Journey. The "Special Edition" doesn't even represent most of the score. Same for DOS and BOTFA. The soundtracks are great sure, but they don't do the scores as heard in the film justice. The parts of the score not heard on the soundtrack anyway. The films do kind of butcher the score at times by silencing it.

Cameron007 isn't there a Cue List for "An Unexpected Journey" too? I'd love to see that :)

Actually, I watched AUJ multiple times, DOS a few ones and BOTFA only once. Don't know if I'll ever see that one again. So I don't remember the score that well, but it's a shame Howard Shore didn't use the "Over Hill" theme in the other movies. One of the biggest franchise-scores disappointments ever, similar (IMO) to Civil War.

There is, I just haven't looked closely at it, as I've only seen the film once. I suppose I could go over to ASCAP and look at it. I actually loved the BOTFA score, though I agree with you about Civil War in a sense. I liked Jackman's orchestral approach, but he seemed to all but forget his themes from WS.

Yep. Aside of a couple of Winter-Soldier-theme-cry quotes, I couldn't find any citation to other themes from WS.
Maybe I'll give a listen to DOS and BOTFA... Litterally years I don't listen to them.

AUJ is here.

EDIT: It'll be a bit before I get Avatar back up, my power went out during the upload and I also have some errands to do. It's still a priority, though.

Thanks for that!

An Unexpected Journey is my favorite score (and movie) from The Hobbit series. Maybe because they're the one more closely related to The Lord of the Rings trilogy, which I love (scores and movies alike). Desolation of Smaug and Battle of the Five Armies had good scores, that took a little longer to grew on me.

Unfortunately, all the three of them, but specially the last two, were used very poorly in the movie. The music editing was terrible and the scores were drowned in sound effects on DOS and BOTFA, it was almost like no one there didn't care anymore.

I totally agree with you. The worst decision for DOS and BOTFA scores was not to use the "Over Hill" theme. Shameful. I didn't even get why Howard Shore left the orchestration and conduction job for the last two movies.
