Understood... fellow Canuck! Haven't heard the score yet but if it is like many Horner scores, with wide dynamic ranges, I will at least help get those quiet parts a bit more acoustically noticeable. Many may object but I certainly enjoy hearing the nuances in the softer parts while minimizing the action of going to the volume knob and bringing the volume up or down.

Understood... fellow Canuck! Haven't heard the score yet but if it is like many Horner scores, with wide dynamic ranges, I will at least help get those quiet parts a bit more acoustically noticeable. Many may object but I certainly enjoy hearing the nuances in the softer parts while minimizing the action of going to the volume knob and bringing the volume up or down.

I do the same thing, minimizing the wide range for an easier listen, but you tend to go for a full-on re-equalization to remove all traces of studio noise and that can be a detriment...that kind of restoration isn't needed for every score, and that's what I'm referring to.

For THIS score, if you were to just turn up the gain a little on track 2, "Empanadas for Dario", and maybe track 16 "Family is all we have", then it should be fine.
