Now, I'm aware there's no release out there for it and I could simply settle for the complete release of Boondock 2 but, after watching Boondock 1 through rear channels only, it seems a clean rip can be made of the score. Trouble is, I have no idea how to do it. So if someone wants to do it, I would love that. If not, I would love to get it for any interested parties so long as someone gives me some idea of how to rip music from the rear channel speakers of the score.

I don't think that is possible. You will still have alot of SFX.

No, it's possible. Some 5.1 mixes are quickly and cheaply produced, and have only music in the rear channels.

As stated, I listened to it and the rear channel audio is mostly score. There are a few gunshot sfx and echo on a few tracks but for the most part it is clean. How do I rip the rear channel sound????

Do you have a way to rip DVD files to your computer?

For a beginner, I'd recommend Handbrake+VLC.
Make sure, when you're ripping, that you set the audio track to the 5.1, 'Auto passthru'.
Then open it up in Audacity (with the FFMPEG plugin) and just isolate the bottom two channels.

I have a new Windows 10 Dell PC. No CD drive though. So I guess I would have to download a Blu Ray version of Saints to my PC. I have a friend that can do that. Thought about using my girlfriends digital sound recorder but I'm afraid it'll come out terrible quality.

Yeah, it would probably sound horrible.

If you do download a copy make sure that you're grabbing a copy with 5.1 audio and not stereo.

That's why I was thinking Blu Ray, most of the time, they come standard with 5.1. Possible to provide a link to the software I'll need to rip the audio and all that? Freeware, I hope.

That's interesting.. do you have a list of those titles?

There are several Bluray versions available for Boondock Saints. The JPN version has 6.1 sound, other countries have only 5.1 sound. I will look into the bluray of the first release. I know how to rip it but is there any easy way to load the dts-hd stream into Adobe Audition or Premiere so that I can edit it?

There's no way to know for sure unless you look for yourself. It changes from film to film.

I've never seen a big-budget film be mixed this way, but sometimes TV shows and Direct-to-DVD films get this bare-bones treatment.

Are you a Windows or a Mac?

I looked into the bluray. There's no way that there could be done a clean rip of all the music.
In one scene you hear the raindrops during the music, in another scene you hear voice and other sfx stuff.

Even the intro music (The Blood Of Cuchulainn) has several fade-ins/fade-outs, everytime someone speaks and you hear slight background noise.

There already exists a good version of the music : Thread 98953

There is virtually no score on that version, just the mainstream soundtrack. On my version, there's quite a few cues that aren't interrupted.
