MUSIC FOR LORETTA, released by Decca Records in 1960, featured original scores composed and conducted by Harry Lubin for Loretta Young’s hit anthology TV Series LETTER TO LORETTA, later renamed THE LORETTA YOUNG SHOW, which ran on NBC from 1953 to 1961. The actress hosted the series and played the lead in many of its episodes. American composer, conductor and arranger, Harry Lubin, served as Music Director of the series and composed original scores for 43 episodes. The opening and closing credit music Lubin composed for The Loretta Young Show was and still is one of the most well known and beloved theme songs ever written for television. Lubin also composed original scores and themes for the sci-fi anthology TV series, ONE STEP BEYOND and THE OUTER LIMITS. The FLAC files on this download were converted from my ten year old 24 bit transfer of two reasonably clean early 1960s American Decca LPs. The sound quality is okay but not perfect. American Decca was not known for quality in its engineering or pressings. But the music is well worth your listen, in my opinion. The download includes the entire Music for Loretta LP plus additional tracks of original music Lubin composed for the series that appeared on another 1961 Decca LP entitled THEMES FROM THE WORLD OF SIGHT AND SOUND. All of the selections are not sound tracks but re- recordings featuring the Munich Symphony Orchestra conducted by the composer. I hope, despite the marginal sound, you find some enjoyment in these rare recordings, which have been out of print for at least 40 years and, to my knowledge, have never been released on CD.
