What pleases you the most? Graphics of Gameplay?

it's gotten to the stage now where developers have the technology to provide both, if they don't then it's just laziness on their part

Gameplay pleases me most, ff7 has horrible graphics but the gameplay is excellent.

Gameplay all the way, if the game looks good but gameplay sucks, no point playing just to see nice visuals. As long as graphics dont like realy suck then im fine with about anything.

He's right. There is no point in playing a Really good looking game and then haveing the gameplay be really bad.

Graphics might have evolved alot and might add alot of detail and whatnot, but no matter how orgasmicly awesome a game looks, if it plays like shit I will not buy it. So I'm all bout gameplay and usually that sets the mood for me better then the graphics itself, I like the feeling that I'm being beaten because I'm not good enough, not because I'm strugling with the controls to even punch.

Gameplay, of course. Gaming companies have put too much focus on striving to have the best graphics out there, and it ruins some games because they don't put in a good effort to work on the gameplay.

While graphics can be nice and all, I'm not one of those people who is totally amazed by gorgeous graphics. They are just eye candy. Until I see proof that this eye candy is not trying to distract the gamer away from playing the game itself, then I view it as a waste of my time. Graphics should not have to make up for a bad game. To me, there is no good game out there that has great graphics, but bad gameplay.

Half-Life 2 = Graphics + Gameplay x 10

When it comes down to it, gameplay wins out though.

Some genres don't really neeed great gameplay though. Like, I may prefer a nice looking point and click adventure game with a cumbersome interface and simple puzzles to an ugly game in the same genre that has a smooth interface and more creative puzzles. Just because I tend to play those games for the humor and such and not the gameplay. Same goes for text adventures which I treat like comic books pretty much, and RPGs, where I'm far more concerned with the characters and storytelling than I am withthe battle system and what kind of dungeons they've come up with.

But that's it. I don't look for stellar gameplay in all of the video games I come across. When I do though, it has to be good. I'll take a good text graphics version of sokoban over a poorly done but beautiful state of the art action game on a next gen console.

Honestly I don't really care about graphics, if it has good gameplay thats all that matters. Gameplay is infinitely better.

*cough*FF8*cough*

I prefer gameplay, i;f the graphics suck, at least it's got the gameplay to save it. Why do you think I prefer Breath of Fire over FF lately. FF is graphically beautiful, but BoF has the gameplay to deliver.

You all say gameplay, then you go and buy FFX-2.
You're fucking liars, that's what you are.

The reason we go buy FFX-2 is becuase we like 10 and wanted to see what happened next that one is a matter of story which i think should also be included in this becuase i could care less about graphics as long as the game is fun to play and has a good story to it then it is a good game.

The steaming pile of smeg that is FFX is only marginally less shit than X-2.

And gameplay, most of the time.

FF10-2 wasn't story. It was fan service. Honestly, if people wanted to see Rikku in less clothing, the internet has plenty of freely available hentai - they didn't have to sex up the sequel :(

It was weird because after i finished 10, i went back to because i had never really completed it. And dealing with the graphics was hard. So im not really sure what to pick anymore
