Before somebody yells at me about posting albums that don't strictly speaking fit in to any of the categories... I hope the powers that be will excuse this one which, whilst indeed an audiobook, does represent a unique interest to collectors of anime music by virtue of its score, by none other than Yasuo Higuchi.

This is perhaps the rarest - and perhaps oldest, Higuchi of all; in 1974 at the age of just twenty-one, he scored this Japanese language audiobook adaptation of Richard Bach's novella "Jonathan Livingston Seagull". Sadly, the music on its own was never released, so this upload is actually the complete 46 minute audiobook, with sound effects and narration. I suspect it will, therefore, be of primary interest to Japanese speakers.

Higuchi's score (which is written for full symphony orchestra) is sparingly used; but it's so gorgeous it doesn't matter. I don't care that I can't understand a word that's being said. I don't care that a lot of the music is buried under a narrator and the sounds of seagulls. It's Yasuo Higuchi; the least prolific and possibly the finest composer of modern times.

About this vinyl... What can I say? It's ten years older than me and it sounds like it's never been played. From the scans you can see some discolouration and damage, but fortunately the LP itself was absolutely spotless. Herr Salat sent me this about two years ago and to my shame, I never transferred it until now. My unreliability has become something of a theme running through these projects - there is usually an apology of some kind or another, and this is no exception - but I hope that somebody finds some pleasure in this album and that Herr Salat himself still keeps good feelings for me. Once again, sir, thank you.

Enjoy! :)

It's a shame only two people liked this beautiful music. Perhaps if more shriners were appreciative, tangotreats would still be here to upload. I'm in Malaya on honeymoon for a few more months and when I return to the UK I'll try and dig it out and post (with TT's permission of course).

Yes, it's really sad that a lot of Tango's uploads went unnoticed - especially the most esoteric ones. If you can upload it again, even in the far future, it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm really gratified to read these posts which I only just saw... I never expected these uploads to be phenomenally popular - this is a world where Hiroyuki Sawano's noise will get praise from here to the end of the earth, and genuine works of art from the past will fall into obscurity. If just one person enjoyed it, it was worthwhile.

In that spirit... a new link has been uploaded. :)

Also... Hello, Yen! Congratulations, I hope it's all going well for you! Are you still active on here?
