um. skual(skew-ell is what i think you're trying to say) sounds a bit stupid. Squall pronounced as the storm sounds better and not so dumb.

Yes, it does man "heavy" or "angry" storm, though it is more hurricane than storm. I pronounce it Skuall. I looked up the meaning of Laguna and it means silent rain or softening lake, apparently.

In my language (dutch) an 'u' after a 'q' means it is pronounced 'kw' instead of 'k'

Laguna is Squall's father.there is no 100% proof of this but common sense and putting 2 and 2 together id say Laguna is definetlly his dad
