With the new game out, I've been working frantically on a new collection that compiles music from all of the Ratchet & Clank games! This is an 8GB download in (almost entirely) 320kbps and contains probably the most amount of music for the games ever, with almost all tracks sourced from the game disc. You can download it below! EDIT: Now with music from the PS4 game, with a FLAC version!

Full Soundtrack Collection Download: https://mega.nz/#!0Id0XLYC!GHSzmmZNUlw11Utsi012EaotGnnz5gZ763UOTgYkEwM

IMPORTANT NOTE: I forgot a track from Full Frontal Assault for the main Proteus VII Plasma Harvester level. Because I intend to do a final update on the Collection with an eventual RC16 rip, it isn't worth it for me to re-upload the entire Collection for a single track at this point. Instead, I've uploaded the track on its own via the link below. Simply drag and drop it into the FFA folder after unzipping it and it'll go right into place.

Hey guys, I noticed a couple of mistakes in the soundtrack, in particular I forgot to include the Bernilius Sector space radio tracks for the core CiT soundtrack (they were always there in the Space Radio folder, though). In addition I changed the track name of "Riding the Morklon Vines" to "Finding the Portal" as is it named that on Boris Salchow's Soundcloud (same with the one with the short intro). Since the old name was an intentional pair to tie in with "Ride the Zanifar Vines", that track has now been changed to "Ride the Vines". Finally, I updated the album art for the Groovitron Collection to reflect the proper name for CiT's Credits, which is called Wired. And lastly, there were a few odds and ends I left in which I've now removed, reducing the file size to 5.69GB.

I've provided a new link above in the original post.

I've also decided to upload all of the soundtracks individually, so if you want the updated CiT and Groovitron soundtracks, or just want to download an individual game's music, you'll be able to do that. I'll let you guys know here when it's done and I'll update the main post to break down and provide links to each of them. Stay tuned!

Dammit, I did it again! I've uploaded another update to the Ultimate Collection because I found the original track used for the RYNO VI in All 4 One.

Luckily, I've also adopted the split soundtracks! So if you want a specific soundtrack, or want to download an updated version when I do so, that is now an option for you guys. Enjoy!

This collection is absolutely unbelievable. Thank you so much for putting this together.

Also, GOOD NEWS! Maybe. A potential full OST is on the table, beyond the 40 minute limited vinyl that's in the works. Michael Bross said as much to me on Twitter! (https://twitter.com/brossmusic/status/721908047027646464)

He also revealed that he scored around a total of four hours of music (https://twitter.com/brossmusic/status/721902113656188928) for the game.

I'm not sure how we can show an audience for a full release, but if anyone has ideas, I'm sure everyone reading this thread is all fuzzy Lombax ears!

Awesome! 40 minutes is a lot for a game soundtrack!

I'll be realistic on that second tweet though: he only said that there will be a digital release, NOT a release of all the music digitally.

Awesome! 40 minutes is a lot for a game soundtrack!

If 40 minutes is a lot, you'll be happy with the rip I've been working on! It's been a long time since I ripped the original game as a kid, so getting bits of this soundtrack was pretty emotional and fun for me.

Now, this is a partial rip, I only went in for songs I liked and recorded with PS4's share video function with the weapon menu up (to avoid volume fluctuations that usually make voices more audible, which plague most of the gamerips I've heard so far) to make these loops, but hopefully they're helpful to you considering the insanely huge scope this project of yours has grown to have.

And hey, anyone getting too antsy to wait for a full rip, check my stuff out as well! They're gapless .wav loops, which the more savvy among you can turn into MP3s cut to whatever length you desire if you can't stand loops.

Track list:

https://mega.nz/#F!vMZzTChY!x4DOVCKpr6WL1Ju_HC1jvw

Let me know what you think, and if there's a specific song I missed that you love, let me know, I'll try to grab it during playthrough 4. I gotta get that platinum trophy!

KBABZ
04-26-2016, 04:15 AM
May I ask how the Share Video feature removes the in-game audio mixing? I have my own techniques for recording, Quick Select included. I'm getting a Sound Card specifically for this Soundtrack so that I can record using Optical. And I'll have more creative names, heh.

CaptainComedy
04-26-2016, 04:30 AM
It doesn't remove the mixing, but being in the weapon select menu does. It also suppresses most sound effects and environmental reverb, but, full disclosure, I played through playthrough 3 with nothing but music enabled to get these.

Even with sfx/vo disabled, you still get volume fluctuations when dialogue happens, so the weapon menu is essential for a lot of tracks that only play the first time you visit a planet before you get into the action, like the wonderful calm music from Aleero City.

I would record over HDMI if I had a capture card, but I figure this is great quality while I wait for someone with more expensive specialized equipment than I have to do a better job with it. I also would imagine at some point one of you crazy creative people will dig straight into the game's files and pull stuff from it. Think of this selection of songs as my personal stopgap during that wait. But if you have any other questions, I'd be happy to answer!

Oh, and to be clear, my editing workflow is: recording with the PS4, copying the video to USB, opening the video in Sony Vegas, cutting to a perfect loop then picking a nice sounding start point and rendering to 44.1 stereo WAV. Then I use the music responsibly (https://soundcloud.com/captaincomedy/fresh-prince-of-aleero-city-ratchet-clank-2016-will-smith)

KBABZ
04-26-2016, 05:18 AM
Ahh okay. I use Vegas too! It's a wonderful little tool.

At some point I do intend to redo my RC16 soundtrack after I finish the recording version, but that will only happen when we can access and convert the game files. It'll also likely be where we find out which music tracks were taken from library music providers such as APM.

The soundtrack will follow the same formatting and guidelines as all my other ones. So for example, tracks do not loop a second time, they fade out when they start repeating themselves. And the first track of most worlds is "[Location Name], [Planet Name]", heh.

The most unique thing about my RC16 soundtrack though will likely be the fact that I'll also put in tracks from the movie OST as well, because I consider them to be the same story.

Generally tracks start at, well, the start, and their loop points I can identify fairly well. A lot of the time dying is an effective method to getting a track to start cleanly.

The hard part will be the cues, specifically ones used to end a track. With CiT I timed them to the end of the track, but I can't really do that one only one save (yeah, screw you Insomniac for doing that for absolutely no reason).

Hey guys!! Fantastic news! I've finished the game recordings and have uploaded both an MP3 and FLAC version! 173 tracks! 4 hours and 40 minutes of music!

MP3: https://mega.nz/#!RVcWDYQa!KquLwOf4mEptX0y5hBpTdd3aRkl8Ak_ZtUBl5tLKKl0
FLAC: https://mega.nz/#!sVFHFZzT!JsGQxC3IJ3eyiFAeCFowO3jOEzDvtgelio__gF0d974

Please note that in the FLAC version, only the game music recordings and the movie OST tracks are in FLAC format; the remaining seven tracks are in MP3.

Full collection .zip is still being uploaded, stand by on that one.

EDIT: There was a problem with Reservoir Caves here, but the issue has been sorted out and the links above updated.

---

Additionally, I have done some updates on some of the other soundtracks. The R&C1 soundtrack has had a few tracks shuffled and some renamed, in order to be more in sync with the PS4 game (for ordering this is just for internal level music ordering; I'm not placing Gaspar before Batalia or anything crazy like that). The Ultimate Groovitron Collection has now also been updated to contain RC16's Groovitron clips (although as of yet I cannot find out what their names are, same with the RYNO Overture and the Pokitaru Tiki Lounge music), and The Album has a higher quality version of Bad News Travels Fast taken from the movie OST.

Thank you for sharing this, KBABZ! I should point out that looking through the files, either my extraction software screwed up, or the final boss's theme is missing. Turns out the final Jetpack battle is just a reprise of a previous track. I think it was Dropship Dog Fights specifically (that one comes up a lot! It's the final track of the non-boss Deplanetizer stuff and it was used for the Kerwan and Deplanetizer Star Jumper battles!).

Uploading new .zips now. I noticed that "Warship A Splode" and "In the Nick of Time" were identical, so I've removed the latter and adjusted the track numbers to suit.

For ITN and ToD, that's because the audio comes from the original movie file, using the back-channels of the surround sound mix to grab the music. It eliminates dialogue and lessens most sound effects, but not all. This applies as well to the CiT and A4O tracks, except for the cases where Boris uploaded the tracks on their own (for CiT) or they were provided in the OST (for A4O).

As for the Mutiplayer stuff, I wasn't aware that they used their own unique tracks; I was under the impression they they just reused the Single Player music. For example, UYA reuses the Maxmillion Strikes Back music from Holostar Studios for its multiplayer.

And for the credits music, that would be because it's just a reel of existing music, so I didn't include it as its own track.

Hey KBABZ, I think I have seen you around the Insomniac forum a few times! Awesome work, downloading now! Now I just gotta find the music for PS Move Heroes.

Hey KBABZ, I think I have seen you around the Insomniac forum a few times! Awesome work, downloading now! Now I just gotta find the music for PS Move Heroes.
I believe you can download the soundtrack from iTunes or Google Music, which is how I got it.

I must ask, how did you do this? I'm TheMygoshi, the man who uploaded first the soundtrack on YouTube, but I had some problems. It took me a long long time to record, and some tracks have fluctuating volume due to dialogues. My idea was to cut lower voluem parts in Vegas and then increase the volume in an another track and then fade with other normal parts. But... 174 tracks in the album? Is it normal that you have cutscene music and other things? You ripped a ps4 game? Is it possible now?
Sorry for the long delay! For some reason I don't get email updates for these anymore.

With dialogue, I'm assuming you're referring to tracks like Dropship Dog Fights (the first track of the Alphatron dogfight section) which have dialogue at the start. The trick I found is to remember that most video game music loops as standard, and conveniently that applies even when the dogfight section technically uses two tracks. I simply had to wait until it looped back to the first track again and I could record it without Elaris decreasing the volume.

Another handy trick is to use the Slow-Motion cheat to belay the dialogue triggers (the music will still play at the normal speed, after all!).

As for the cutscene tracks, I seriously lucked out on it because the in-game cutscene music is contained on the Music volume channel, not the SFX channel as in past games. I discovered this when toying with the idea of a complete Sunset Overdrive soundtrack where it had the same thing. RC16 has it because it runs on the same engine SSO did.

That doesn't mean it's perfect though; for some tracks (like winning a Hoverboard race) I did have to use the same trick you did in Vegas to normalize the volume. This is the main downside to recording the soundtrack rather than just ripping it; you're at the behest of the in-game audio mixing, including any fade-ins. It sounds like we're close to getting PS4 rips now, so I fully intend to redo the RC16 soundtrack in its entirety (as well as include any cut tracks found on the disk).

Me again. I'm long overdue for complementing this huge collection of yours.

Very much my thoughts on your Crash Bandicoot rips apply here: everything is at the best quality I could find, as far as I know, the tracks from the PS4 game are at their peak here and I'm glad someone got a proper rip of the movie's soundtrack (am I the only one who likes that film?).

Just one thing, and I'm not sure if someone else has brought this up already, but one track from Full Frontal Assault/QForce was missing when I first downloaded it back in 2015:
- The main theme of Proteus VII - GrummelNet Plasma Harvester

All the other ones are there, just no the main one.

Thanks for the compliments! I feel like I'm getting the hang of this. If you'd like I have links to all my soundtracks in my sig above. I'm going to redo the Pokemon Stereo ones at some point, though.

I felt including the movie's soundtrack was important because it and the game are basically telling the same story, and the game uses scenes from the movie with its music, so it helps tell the story (I bought it on CD, obviously). I will say though that the ordering at the end isn't correct because I made the soundtrack before I saw the movie*, but I'll fix it when I redo the soundtrack once we can rip PS4 music.

*The movie was pulled from NZ theatres so I couldn't see it until the Blu-Ray in August. Once I got it I held my own premiere to celebrate R&C1's 14th birthday (http://tay.kinja.com/i-did-the-only-ratchet-clank-screening-in-new-zealand-1788740137).

I'll have to check again when I get home, but I was under the impression that I did get it. Is the track you're referring to from the Single Player map or the Multiplayer one? If it's the former then yeah I should get on that if I don't have it (you can download the individual version to check if it's there), but if it's the latter then it's very likely that it was covered by a track re-used from the Single Player.

So as it turns out, I did not have the Plasma Harvester track from FFA included in the soundtrack (it's supposed to be, there a gap in the file numbering where 35 is meant to be!). Luckily I had it stored elsewhere and I've put it in its appropriate folder. However since it's a huge hassle to re-upload the entire Collection, I've decided to provide the file as its own link so that it's easiest to download for everyone. When I get to redoing RC16 once the rip is available, I'll reupload the entire Collection .zip with the missing track, as well as FFA's individual .zip. Link is below, just drag and drop it into the existing FFA folder and it'll be in the right place.

I do have that track, it's called "38 Ratchet Rescues Angela". I use a different name because as far as I'm aware that boss is never called a Giganto Mech (unless there's a Mission description I missed).

Yes, my mistake. But still, you don't have loops. I really like to listen some tracks twice, especially 01 Flying Lab, Aranos, 05 Wupash Nebula Ambush, 09 The Challenger vs. The Champ and others like. They become really something when double-weighted. Without - it's just a familiar sound from TV. Anyway, I appreciate your work.

Yeah I get that a lot with my soundtracks. From my perspective, if you want to listen to a track again, you just have to hit previous to start it over again. Having loops for me is redundant and effectively doubles the file size of the soundtrack.
