they look like lulu's dolls in all the games. but normally they have free will. in ff9 they are save points and letter carryers and in ff7 it is a summoner.

I understand why this was here, but I'm moving it to general Final Fantasy. If you wanna know what a moogle is, then how about playing some of the other FF games, or Kingdom Hearts?

They're the little cat/mole creatures that have a Rudolf nose, yes. Personally, I don't like them. 'Kupo' hurts the ears, and I especially hate it when they get stuck between two monsters, and then they yell at me to carry the stinkin' chalice. Moogles may dance to create magical effects and spells, and if you've played FFtactics or any FF in which they pay a particular main feature in, you should know exactly what a Moogle is.

Edit: Visual explanation.

Be aware though that's not the only type of moogle though. There are also female moogles and some can fly and some can't. There's even one in one particular game that's playable.

Also in that same particular game, there is an armor called the Moogle Suit, which actually makes the wearer look like a moogle in battle.

I equipped that armor, but it didn't seem to change the character look one bit. In fact, the Chocobo Suit too, none of that seemed to actually change the look. Maybe that's a bug in the Anthology version though?

Are moogles in anyway related to the moombas?

..."Laguna! Laguna!" :D

All I know is that, I can stand it when someone says dude or man in every sentence. I just hate it when the moogles say "Kupo" in everything. It is really annoying, but other than that, I mean why would you wanna know about moogles they are just a race of things that help you in the game.

Moogles and Moombas are two separate animals. They're different in a lot of ways.

Slavic --- the original poster didn't really know anything about moogles, so he wouldn't know why or why not he would or wouldn't want to know about them.

Moogles were almost effectively Square's company mascot for a while (their first actual named appearence was in Secret of Mana), but once the chocobo became firmly established in the FF series the little guys popularity waned. FFVI did try to bring the moogles back into the limelight, with Mog as a playable character, but Sony screwing up FFVII's translation didn't exactly help - confusing Mog with his race. At least successive FF games restored the damage.

Incidentally, this is how FF Compendium (at http://www.ffcompendium.com/h/species/mogli.shtml ) describes the moogle:

The second mainstay of the FF world actually doesn't appear too much in the games themselves! But they're super-cute (kupo!). They look kind of like white teddy bears with some cat in them, and two tiny bat wings.

A note about their name: In Japan, they are called Mogli. For 6, it was translated as Moogle, but in 7 and 8, and 10 they were called Mogs (very confusing, seeing as a character in 6 was named Mog!) Guest appearances include a character in the Chocobo games for PSX, a status problem in Secret of Mana, and an armor called the "Moogle Smock" in Seiken Densetsu 3 (Secret Of Mana 2).

As can be seen on that site, the moogle has appeared in quite a few games (and not just FF either)... Not mentioned on FF Compendium though is the moogle also appears in FF Crystal Chronicles, FFXI and the anime FF Unlimited.

You forgot about Final Fantasy IX. Moogles were big in that one obviously --- you had to use them to save and they had a lot of plot. Kingdom Hearts also has moogles.

Im glad they killed the moombas off after FF8. Despite Moogles being hidiosly cute, they r a God send compared to them orange squeky freaks.

A moogle is a evil little creature that reminds me of a pokemon when it says it's name..and they use humans as servents to send mail to each other...that is my definition of a moogle...

Hmm. I was rather fond of the moombas. Especially the case when you visit Shumi Village, where some pretty funny dialogue happens.

"ANIMAL!? How dare you call them ANIMALS!!"

Bah, I guess they really wanted moogles as well, and having two cute things together won't work.

Wooh, A moomba.. weren't those the funky looking things? They were pretty cool...personally I like Chocobo's,not moogles(No offense, they scare me) and maybe now a moomba...cause I don't remember them very welll...and from what I do remember they were almost as cute as a moogle...figuratively speaking, because like I said, I'm a chocobo fan...there all cool
