Since Morrowind it has been possible to add music to Bethesda's RPGs. Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3 have several folders from which the game chooses a random mp3 to play (eg Explore, Public (Town), Dungeon, Combat). For Fallout Vegas though only replacing files is possible, are adding music to a custom music station. There are 2 mods that add various situation specific playlists to Skyrim, though music has to be converting either into wav or a bizarre format that nothing can playback directly.
My question is, what music do you think would be appropriate to add to these RPGs? I am slowly going through various film, game, new age, trailer music and classical music soundtracks I have acquired, looking for appropriate music tracks. Sometimes I have to excise out parts of a tracks. When modding these RPGs, you want a certain mood rather than multiple moods in a single track. Combat music is of course very brisk, dungeon music tends to be ambient/drone music with little instrumentation, and explore music in between, generally more cheerful for the fantasy RPGs and more sombre for the Fallout wasteland.
