Miklos Rozsa was one of only a handful of 20th. Century film score composers who also wrote equally brilliant works for concert hall performance. Three of the works presented here were recorded by Rozsa in Germany for American Decca nearly a decade earlier. This 1965 RCA release, recorded in Italy, adds the Notturno Ungherese (also, the Overture to A Symphony Concert was recorded in a newer revised version with an “a” added to its opus number.) The source for this download was a DSD archived original 1960s Red Seal LP. In addition, to bring the program to CD length, the premiere recording of Rozsa’s Violin Concerto, recorded by RCA in 1956 with Jascha Heifetz as soloist with the Dallas Symphony conducted by Walter Hendl, is included, remastered from a superior 4 track reel tape. In my opinion, the performances on this download are definitive for these works and the mid-1960s Dynagroove RCA “Living Stereo” is truly spectacular even by today’s standards.

Yet another fabulous share, Stevie. The orchestral pieces sound wonderful - you had done a great job in obtaining the clarity in the recordings. The download is made even more outstanding with your generous inclusion of Heifetz's first recording of the Violin Concerto. Stunning all round and a very good companion to your earlier transfer of Thief & Jungle. Better than a chocolate Easter Egg!

Nero & Cyberlink are CD/DVD music/video recording software that usually comes loaded on most new PC computers. Both will convert almost any file format to another for recording. The best batch converters for FLAC to mp3 (320 kbps) are Sony Sound Forge Studio 10 (costs about $40) or better still FlacSquisher, A utility to specifically convert Flac files to MP3, and it is free software. Check out their download page and see if it is right for you. https://sourceforge.net/projects/flacsquisher/
