CONCERT IN THE PARK is a studio recording released in 1963 consisting of many musical favourites which Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops played at their annual free outdoor concerts at the Hatch Shell on the Esplanade, a public park beside the Charles River in Boston, Massachusetts. These concerts continue to this day each year on July 4th. under the Pops current conductor, Keith Lockhart. Besides some of the most spectacular sound in RCA’s “Living Stereo” series, CONCERT IN THE PARK includes some delightful but obscure musical works in their first and only recordings. The source for this remastered edition of CONCERT IN THE PARK was a DSD archived 4 track reel to reel tape which I have remixed and expanded to nearly double the original album’s contents by including other recordings by Fiedler & the Boston Pops associated with the Esplanade Concerts. The end result makes for almost 80 minutes of pure musical joy with the over 50 year old RCA “Living Stereo” analog sound still a wonder to hear.
