Soundtrack for the hugely popular American Werewolf in London. As you may already know, an official soundtrack was never released for this movie (Bernstein's score is only about 6 minutes long.)

The score is mainly short musical 'stabs' which doesn't provide the usual flowing soundtrack you normally get in a film, most of the music are songs with a moon related theme. The Mecco album didnt do much to improve the score and was simply re-recordings of some of the songs and some that were 'inspired' by the werewolf theme.

There have been several bootlegs floating around none of which (in my opinion) present the music as heard here. This is my own rip from the movie soundtrack and i have tried to enhance the music as much as possible (be warned i am no sound engineer!) and as such there are some of the tracks with a slightly lower volume due to the surround channels they were taken from.

The songs are the original versions (no crappy re-recordings as used in other releases) and the music is as heard in the film, there are some light FX which i have tried to diminish as much as i could (again, i'm no expert.) The additional tracks are the complete versions of the main and end title songs as well as the unused transformation music and a couple of other bits.

I would like to think that this is the first time the music has been put together like this (feel free to correct me) and that this is hopefully a faithful representation of the movie and its music.

1. Main Titles (Blue Moon - Bobby Vinton - Movie Edit)
2. Walking The Moors
3. The Forest (David's Dream #1)
4. The Hunter (David's Dream #2)
5. The Hospital Bed (David's Dream #3)
6. Jack - The Undead (FX)
7. Alex & David (Moondance - Van Morrison)
8. Jack's Warning (FX)
9. Travelling to East Proctor/Enter The Slaughtered Lamb
10. David's Boredom (Bad Mood Rising)
11. The Transformation (Blue Moon - Sam Cooke)
12. Piccadilly Circus / The Moon Appears
13. Into The Alley - Let Me Help You
14. End Titles (Blue Moon - The Marcels - Movie Edit)
15. Blue Moon - Bobby Vinton (Original Version)
16. Metamorphosis (Unused Cue)
17. Soho - See You Next Wednesday (FX)
18. Blue Moon - The Marcels (Original Version)
19. An American Werewolf In London Suite

Enjoy!

This puts to shame all the other previous versions. The score comes to life like never before, with all sfx virtually eliminated - fantastic work!

This was not used, what appears in the soundtrack here is what you hear in the movie. Previous attempts for the AWIL soundtrack have included all manner of werewolf songs which have nothing to do with the movie. The soundtrack is quite sparse by most standards so i think there has always been an attempt to 'beef up' a soundtrack for AWIL by using all manner of references to werewolves.

Glad everyone likes the soundtrack, much appreciated.

hi thanks for this but the mega page is not loading .

This could be a browser or anti-virus setting. I have checked the link with Chrome and Microsoft Edge and they both work (ME does seem to take longer to load i noticed.)

EDIT - I have just noticed that the original tracklist i gave was wrong, i have amended the original post. The track i failed to list was 'Jack's Warning'

More haste, less speed!
