Although FF 8 is by far my favourite, but I think there is no denying that (in europe at least) that if FF 7 had'nt have been the success that it was, that maybe FF8 and onwards may have never hit our shores, was it a similar case in other continents, Share your opinions?

I dont know but for some reason i didnt like FF7 near as much as i liked FF9.
Maybe its becuase FF9 had alot of stuff fromt the other games like the music
in the Gulug volcano was alomst the same as from the first FF.. as where the 4 fiends
and deathguise (who lookd alot like chaos to me) but thats just my opinion

i think ur right becuase if 7 sucked and failed then the series popularity would drop farther than it already was at that point and squaresoft would have probably lost soo much money that the merger wouldnt have happened and the company would go bankrupt hence ending the series.

I'm not saying that FF7 was the greatest of the final fantasies, I'm just saying that without the success of FF7 it would have discouraged Sqaure from releasing the FF seqeuls in europe and maybe other places.

if it failed it would have probably stopped the series cuz 7 revived the series popularity and 8 kept it up then it went down and then 10 brought it back up again and now its starting to go down again so if they want it to stay popular they'll probably have to make another one to revive the popularity

There are always these phases but twelve looks promising. It's time to kick some ass once again.
