I know Dr. Seuss' birthday (and Read Across America, too!) is a month away, but...

I know this has been done before in the 1980s half hour, The Grinch Grinches the Cat in the Hat, but what if the two beloved Dr. Seuss characters that are The Cat in the Hat and The Grinch, respectively, engaged each other in a great, titanic, and epic battle of great, titanic epic proportions (presumably over the Grinch's dog Max or something)?

And if so, who shall win the great epic battle/duel/war between the two beloved Dr. Seuss characters that I'm talking about?

The Cat in the Hat or The Grinch?

A stupid question requires a rational response:

It is very unlikely that the Cat in the Hat could ever be aware of the Grinch's existence, and therefore could not ever come to blows. The Grinch, as we all know, lives with the Whos of Whoville, who are revealed in 'Horton Hears a Who!' to live on a tiny speck of matter - one so small that, for a time, only the eponymous elephant could detect their existence.

HOWEVER, there is a slight possibility that a meeting could be staged between the two. In one episode of the TV series The Cat In the Hat Knows a Lot About That - "Many Ants Make Light Work" - the Cat and his two friends shrink down in size to tour an ant colony. Could they not shrink down to the Grinch's size, or, perhaps, shrink all of Whoville up to normal size? The chances of this ever happening are slim, just about impossible - but anything can happen in a Dr. Seuss novel, and so we can only ponder.

What incarnations of the characters are being considered? What counts as canon in the Seuss world? Obviously the books are the primary source of material, but can we interpret the animated films and spin-offs as a more detailed chronicle of events, and therefore also canon? If so, the Cat would be armed with this:

I don't know what it does, but it looks like it could demolish the Grinch in an instant.
