I don't know. I like a lot of soundtracks.

The soundtrack album I probably listen to the most right now is High Fidelity's- hooray for The Beta Band!

the verve--bittersweet symphony at the end of cruel intentions. i dont think a more appropriate song has ever been chosen for a place in any movie.

I don't like movie soundtracks that are collections of singles collected from various bands. Even if I like them individually, I won't think much of the soundtrack. Songs written specifically for a movie are a different matter.

Anything by John Williams is good: Star Wars, E.T., Empire of the Sun, Schindlers List, they're all good.

When the album's a collection of random singles, and they've done a good job with it, it feels like you're listening to a really awesome mix tape, which is always a good thing.

I really like it when songs are written specifically for movies though. Magnolia had some really great musical moments.

I was smiling so much when I first heard that being played at the end, I had no idea it was going to be played, but yep there it was, in all its glory.

Also 'Out There' by Dinosaur Jr from Wayne's World 2 is bloody awesome, the intro is just some awesome guitaring.

And also if you like a mixture of Alt.90's rock mixed with rap, pick-up the Judgement Night soundtrack, some fucking awesome songs.

Agreed whole-heartedly, John Williams is a very talented composer.

As for OSTs that had great soundtracks, I'd say Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Schindler's List by John Williams. Also great were the Kill Bill soundtrack/s and the Van Helsing OST was very well put together, I feel. From what I was paying attention to. Blame my ex-girlfriend for that =P

As for an individual song, I'd have to go with either the Star Wars Imperial March, or the Indiana Jones theme tune.

Any Danny Elfman tracks on the majority of Tim Burton's films, obviously. The best music on a film would probably be Gary Jules' "Mad World" cover on Donnie Darko as it was extremely fitting. And yeah, so was "Where Is My Mind?" on Fight Club.

My top three favourite soundtracks:
House of Flying Daggers: Really soothing stuff, brings the blood levels right down.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Plain spiffy. Good to dance to.
Daredevil: Because I'm an Evanescence fan.

What a bore I am.

Love Actually
LotR Trilogy (the credits song for RotK's 'Into The West' sung by Annie Lennox)
Shrek/Shrek 2
Most Disney music's alright
Pirates of the Caribbean
Star Wars
Titanic (apart from *that* bloody awful song, the orchestral stuff by James Howard(?)'s quite good)
