STAR WARS - THE FORCE AWAKENS | "The Ways Of The Force" Movie Version

"I can show you the ways of the Force!" (http://www57.zippyshare.com/v/a1Kckxyg/file.html)

MP3(320 kbps) + FLAC

.................................................. .................................................. ............

I edited the music like it is heard in the movie (with the epic Force theme from A New Hope). I wish you all a Happy New Year, shriners!

Thanks for posting. Is this the track that is supposed to have a section of A New Hope tracked into it? The bit where Luke returns to the Homestead? Is there anything else that is different?

Yes, thats the track. And I noticed nothing else between the track and the scene in the movie. But I have to admit that my reference material is not the best at this point.

Thanks :) You might want to tell people what the quality is (320, FLAC, ...) just so they know :)

Well, it's not quite the film version since it doesn't have music from the X-Wing attack. You'd have to also use the track from the FYC that includes that, plus the first 45 seconds of the OST track.

Thanks for sharing, definitely interesting to here this.

Although I still hate that they chose to track this from ANH instead of using what Williams wrote. Hearing it with out sound effects proves to me how jarring it is, different orchestra, 1977 recording... just doesn't work for me from a listening experience standpoint. Nothing against your edit, you did a fine job, I just don't like the filmmaker's decision here.

I remembered the film version was different, but I couldn't remind it. Thanks for your work! :D

Strangely there's a big clipping at 0:32. I hope you can fix it.

Not with me. Do you hear that on repeated listening?

Yes, even after multiple downloads :/

After seeing the movie again, I noticed that the "bunrning homestead" theme starts a little bit earlier than in your movie edition of the track.

If I take this as a reference:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTKHZN8c2L8

In Ep7, the track starts at 1m29s (maybe even 1m28s, will need to see it again) I believe: we can hear a little bit of the melody preceding the main theme.
In your version, I think you started just a little bit too late at 1m30s.

I think this cut of "bunrning homestead" is closer to the movie:

Any opinion?

Still, thank you very much again for your great work!

Sadly, I cant watch your videos. Either they were deleted or are not available in my country. But anyway, I appreciate your critic.

I updated the first post with a newer version (using FLAC files) I edited together today. I added the first meeting with Kylo, Rey and Finn in the forest and the trench run with the X-Wings. Sadly there is still one piece of music missing (just before the X-Wings enter the trench). But I hope you like this version anyway.

I managed to identify the piece of music before the "Scherzo" (surprisingly, it's from "Attack on the Jakky Village, Pt 1" [2:49 - 3:15]), and, thanks to a friend of mine, I managed to recreate the film tempo of the "Burning Homestead" insert (as much as possible...).

I downloaded the movie (filmed from the cinema...) and recorded the entire 5 mins sequence, then I converted it in mp3. The quality is the shittiest possible, but I used it as an audio reference for the mixes, and it works though its limits. I already mixed most of the pieces, but I still have to fix some things.

The only big trouble is with the "Jakku insert": the middle 'trumpet' fragment [3:04 - 3:08] is replaced by a one note (the last of the 'trumpet' fragment) played twice. I believe it's from an unknown cue, since I couldn't remind it from another track in the whole known score. I'm trying to artificially recreate the sound of it, but we'll have to wait until the film comes in Blu-Ray for a clean audio.

Probably I'm going to share my mixes one of these days. Stay tuned! :)

Looking forward to any future film mixes.

Blu-ray is out in just under a month, now.

Mine would be simply editing some cues from the OST and FYC... All I can do with the Blu-Ray is having just a better audio quality as a reference for my edits :) But in this case, it doesn't changes that much to me, since the cue used in the middle of the "Jakku insert" is still unknown. And my current audio reference does a good job for what I use it for.

---------- Post added at 11:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:26 PM ----------

Obviously, someone (not me) can use the Blu-Ray for the best Film Mix of "The Ways of the Force" of the Universe in a near future.

UPDATES on my Custom Edit

As you may have read earlier, I'm working on a custom edit using an extracted audio as a reference in order to obtain the most precise edit possible.

In all this time, I managed to find each cue's precise place, but sometimes it's a weird thing because I'm no more free to move the tracks to make to passages sound better.

Also, analyzing the audio reference, I found some missing pieces:
- the opening of the Burning Homestead insert is different, I didn't manage to recognize it.
- the fade-in section between Burning Homestead and The Ways of the Force (OST Version) might also be different.
- in the middle of the Jakku insert, there's a small section of an unknown cue.

Moreover, the slowed version of Burning Homestead is quite rough :/
The digital download and the blu-ray are coming out soon, someone will make a far better edit and it will be closer to the movie too.

Here is my question to you: should I give up because of all this problems?
I feel I still could make it, but only with some 'compromises'

Never give up...

I have been doing WAV editing for quite a few years, and this is a pretty darn good job. Way to go on the edit. The many fan edits I have heard for this cue miss the mark, and while I don't have a comparison, this will most likely take up permanent residence in my film score collection.

Great work, thanks for sharing!
