Note: Having just gotten over strep throat, this score was my helping hand to get through it all. Without further adieu, I present my (hopefully) final deluxe edition version of the complete score for Danny Elfman's Edward Scissorhands. This release is compiled from two (official) sources and for once, no DVD/Bluray elements were necessary at all this go around. The two elements are the recent 2015 Intrada expanded edition and the original 1990 soundtrack album.

First things first, Intrada's edition of the score is the complete score presentation of the music as played in the film, with the exception of one cue (The Heist) which I will go into detail below about. I'll keep this short but to hear so many of these cues in such a high degree of quality for the first time was very emotional. I wept tears of joy. Such beautiful music, easily one of Elfman's best.

The editorial process was fairly straightforward: I re-arranged all cues into chronological order and made advanced editorial on one cue (The Heist) due to Intrada's preference of downmixing the drum crescendo from 1:06-1:16. I blended it with a segment from the 1990 soundtrack album (The Tide Turns (Suite), I couldn't use the box set version because the drums were oddly downmixed there). To me it's pretty seamless and I hope it works for you.

There's also some stuff that's never been included on any ES album, like Cloth World (sounds like an Edward Scissorhands-themed Simpsons cue), the talk show bumper music and a few alternates. I opted not to include the demos from the Burton/Elfman box set because I didn't really listen to them. Sorry. :( I'm sure you can find them somewhere though.

I included the full original soundtrack album as supplemental material. The volume was a little low so I boosted it a little bit to match Intrada's more closely and give it better consistency. Due to the app I use to play music not handling split-tracks well, I also retained the suite form of some cues so instead of there being two separate cues there's just one.

This was edited in a lossless environment and final masterings are in FLAC.

Enjoy and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Of course. :) The Heist cue in this edition is brand spanking new. At first, I used a segment from the Bluray isolated score to fill in the gap from 1:06-1:16 but I happened to listen later to the album cue (the ORIGINAL 1990 album specifically) and the mixing was much better so I swapped the Bluray isolated score segment out with the album version.

To clarify, I didn't completely remove the Intrada version of 1-06-1:16, I merely mixed the two elements together, albeit lowering the volume of the Intrada portion under the 1990 soundtrack album to prevent a weird echo defect but keep it sounding full. It works for me.

Of course, all cues are in their proper 44.1khz/16b form. When I make editorials, I forget that I render at a higher sample rate and often forget to downmix it back to 44.1khz. That has been fixed.

One of my music professors from freshman year actually performed in the boys choir in this very score, and he was a great professor so knowing this makes listening to the score an extra treat.

I don't often comment in your threads but I figured I would say wonderful work you do, the attention to detail makes me wonder why you don't work over at varese or la la land instead lol You are the bear mccreary of music editing (I say this because he goes into great detail about his music on his blog, just as you do with your edits)

So thank you, this is a wonderful score and it was nice to see an update from it, and yet another update not long after lol

one question: what about the album of the score from the tim burton box? is it any good compared or contains stuff not included on the original and intrada release?

It does include other stuff but mainly demos and such. Also, the sound was brickwalled which I wasn't a fan of.

Thanks for this, Cody. Hadn't gotten around to hearing the newly expanded version yet, but this seems like the way to do it. Can't wait to revisit this amazing score. Thanks for all your effort, Merry Christmas!
