This is in response less to that fiasco and more to the harm that Sparktank and that Oliver Queen fellow were causing through them.

Well it does not look like Sparktank is temporarily banned at all, and it seems that thread started this all. I don't think it's a coincidence this all happened in such a short time period.

Thank you personally, Jessie, for this new rule. I think it could be the start of a better way, and a solution to all the recurrent problems of this forum. It's a tiny start.. and I thank you for trying to fix out the Sparky problem. (Though I wish he was IP banned so he never comes back.)

Hopefully in the future there can be more improvements to make this forum a better place alltogether.

IP bans may be counter-productive, actually. The number of Internet-surfers with Dynamic IP addresses has exponentially increased, the chances of someone having a Static IP address are somewhat slim [EDIT: to explain things a bit better - even if we were to ban a certain IP address, the offending user might still return in a matter of seconds, enough for him/her to obtain a new IP address]; Range-IP bans are possible, technically, but with those comes a high chance of banning "innocent" users.

Yeah, I was thinking of that possibility too, he knows to do that easily. But anyway, something was done, and I really appreciate it.
