I liked Linkin Park a lot when I was slightly younger, and like every other 8th grader I bought Hybrid Theory. I have listened to them in a while but I don't think they are bad.

they are my fave band. and i dont like them cos angst or whatever. i just like their sound. i had never heard anything like them before and i just really dug their newness. plus, chester has one amazing set of vocals.

The lead singer sounds kind of pleasant though, but only when he's singing quietly, when he does the terrible screeching bits it sounds awful X-x;

I'll not pretend to have a deep understanding about the inner workings of music so I won't argue with the claims that they can't play the guitar well or are musically simplistic, or because the happen to be labled as part of a genre that happens to be popular at the moment the automatically suck.

They do sound good though and that's all I care about. I'd like to thank Sephiroths Bride for starting this thread since it reminded me to head over to a buddy's house some time today and burn me a copy of meteora =)

Anyways, LP are awful. I've seen them live, they were really bad. I even gave them a fair chance at being good, but they really failed to actually put on a good show either. Even bands I don't really like (Read: Lost prophets and slipknot) have been able to keep me at least semi-interested while I watch. Lp were unenthusiastic cash cows who just love knowing that they have slavering bands of teens who think their music is "really deep."

They're simplistic and tiresome both lyrically and musically. I have all sorts of bands I can listen to instead of them to give me my quick angst fix.

I have their first album, it's pretty good! papercut has good lyrics, so that's probably my favourite.

I love Linkin Park.
I understand what others talked about them, like most of their songs sound so alike, BUT they have been slightly changing their themes and therefore making different kind of songs, listen to Hybrid Theory, Reanimation and Meteora respectively, you'll see what I'm talking about.

Yeah, actually they sucked when they did live in the early stage, I was depressed when I listened to their live songs, BUT you can clearly see they improved hell a lot by watching/listening to Live in Texas. For example, Chester sang so bad( I guess his style of singing is kind of harmfult to the throat, after having sung a counple of songs he always sounded like he got bad asthma, almost dying.), now he can keep singing stably, you know that.



By the way, my favorite song is One Step Closer on Live in Texas, it features lyrics from that of Reanimation, it's worth listening to if you haven't.

Though it is not a band I hate people for liking, besides the conventional style, and dull lyrics, I just don't like their music. I think they're like every other band out there. Nothing special at all and I can't stand bands like that. They all sound the same, they are boring as hell, and most of the time have songs based on no true meaning, or are based on melodramatic bull shit. Talent wise they are as plain as white, none of the members stand out, they just shout there balls off, and have no rhythm. It really depends how you're using the term "commercial." When I think of that, I think of something that was created so as to make money rather than to create quality music, which more often than not leads to uninteresting shit. If "commercial" just means "they get paid money," then it's quite a different story.

But really, assuming that people like underground bands solely because they are underground is just as annoying as assuming that people like popular bands just because they are popular.

I always thought commercial meant any music that can be marketed and make money, sometimes it is created by record companies only to make money, other times it's bands/artists who happened to find a way to get their music out to a lot of people.

i like a lot of noise in my music and they certainly use a ton of sound. i also enjoy different vocals and they do that as well. their music and sound is just...i dunno, pleasing to my ears. it makes me hyper.

Their first album was Hybrid Theory EP, an unreleased album that was produced by an independent label just shortly before they signed with Warner Brothers. Before that, they had not recorded an actual album.

Linkin Park sounds always the same in lyrics and musically, and then they are always releasing albums with the same songs, there are only two with original songs and then are two with mixes ( Spin-off Collision Course with Jay-z and Re-Animation) then there are the easy money making, Live in Texas, Hybrid Theory Special Edition, Live in"_____" ( There's a spanish concert availiable at least) Anyway with only two original cd's LP has released a large number of Album's that are only mixes, that the fans will buy as soon as they can only to find out that in fact it's pretty much the same as the last record, Live they really suck and the sound is at least bad, Chester Bennington's voice irritates me...
