Humor is so subjective. No stranger to the appeal of lowbrow comedy – I know every slap, poke, and yank in the 3 Stooges canon – I've never been able to tap into Benny Hill. After I found this, I poked around the Shrine and discovered a few dead links with re-up requests. There was obviously an interest, so why not pass it on? I'm glad you all enjoy!

So sorry if my measly mp3 fails to meet your rigid standards. I will not be offended if you decline the download.

Cheers Scott.

Arguably not really a "best of" as there are a number of obvious exclusions (Garden of Love, for example, probably his best known song other than Ernie) but some good stuff nonetheless.

I've got a bunch of Benny Hill's albums and material (apart from the very first 78rpm he released in 1955), All in FLAC from either CD, Vinyl or Tape if wanted here.

Right, I'll get onto that tomorrow, its nearly midnight here.

I have the following albums:
Sings Ernie...... (CD)
Words & Music (original vinyl version of the above)
The World of Benny Hill (Decca LP of exceprts from 'Benny Hill Time')
The Benny Hill Collection (Same as the 1992 best of, but doesn't contain Yakety Sax)
Benny Hill: The Ultimate Collection (CD. all his Pye output)
Benny Hill Time (BBC Radio Double cassette tape. Contains 4 Benny Hill radio shows from 1964 minus the musical interludes by Jan Waters and The Mike Sammes Singers)

I have a few extra odds and sods audio-wise of varying quality that I can put together as well.

The French quite rightly regard Hill as the genius he was. His biographer Mark Lewisohn (Yes, the same guy who does all the Beatles books) quite rightly detailed and showed that Hill was the pioneer of British Sketch Comedy and Parody and practically invented the genre in the UK.

Should I start a new thread or continue in this one?
