As many of you may know, the complete score of La Noire is out there but is in mono and sounds like absolute shit. I've seen people do amazing things restoring soundtracks to audiophile quality (most ive seen are star wars) and im wondering if anyone out there would care to do the same for this. These songs are really great and I think their current quality is nothing short of a disgrace.

I wish this could be done as well. I can tell you one thing. There is a file called audio.big.pc inside the final/pc folder on the PC version. I am able to play the file with VLC and it's a HQ version of all the audio in the game. 10 hours long. However I can't figure out how to extract the audio, it's an obscure file extension called Personal Composer (.pc)

It plays with VLC? If you send me the file in a rar, I will personally take the time to record the music using VLC's record feature, and edit the tracks in audacity. I don't know how long VLC would allow me to consecutively record without stopping, but I can work around that by simply recording to the max that is allowed and starting up again where it ended. The quality won't be the same as original, but I imagine it would be leagues better than what we've gotten in the past. Just let me know if you would be willing to do that, I'll be glad to share my edit with you and everyone here.

Sure. I was thinking of doing the same thing but I don't have the time, definitely not anytime soon. I uploaded the file to Mega, here you go.

Please definitely let me know when you complete this, I would love that. Working with a 10 hour file may not be easy but with some work and time I think it could be done. I am not sure if the extracted music rips we have are from the console versions or what, because in VLC the quality is solid. Good luck!

EDIT: Crap, I didn't put the file into a .rar, let me know if that is a problem and I'll re-upload when I get a chance. I assure you the file is safe though.

^Would love to hear a remastered version of LA Noire, the official lacks so much! :)

I managed to download the file, but I can't get it to open with VLC. Have you installed additional plug-ins or add-ons for VLC aside from what it typically comes with?

I've got bad news guys, I downloaded the file and I imported it into GoldWave... the music is stored as mp3 in 80kbps/48kHz

He's right, it is also 80 I am sorry. I didn't think to import it to Goldwave to check but it actually works. I guess my ears were deceiving me because the quality does seem better to me, but I am mistaken. For whatever reason, it sounds better to me in VLC than it does in Goldwave, no clue why. I have default VLC player by the way. Sorry to get your hopes up but it appears we are stuck with the 80kbps forever:(.

I guess it's possible they will increase the quality for the LA Noire remaster coming out soon, but I highly doubt it.

^That's all we can hope for! VLC uses an equalizer by default, if I remember. Or uses a different sound driver...

Well the remaster is going to be released 7 days from now, and I doubt they they upped the bitrate for the audio files considering how they didn't even improve the textures or graphics for the remaster, just the resolution; and how would we able to extract the audio from the xbox one / ps4 / nintendo switch?

well it's simple really.

Well I just ripped the audio files from the PC version and I was surprised to find out the audio files ended in "(song name).wav.mp3" format. I'm guessing they were WAV files before, so they converted the audio to mp3 but they forgot to get rid of the .wav in the file name. I wish that they would have brought back the original WAV files for the audio in the next gen versions. I bet that would raise the audio file from 334 MB to about 12GB, but the next-gen consoles are fully capable of handling that

If there's anyone still following this thread, I have some unreleased L.A. Noire songs in 320kbps. Definitely grab them if you're an L.A. Noire soundtrack fan like me!

I understand that eventually game-ripped file sound is the same as previously known release, so it is no point in digging in it and reuploading?
Thread 153723

As I read somewhere, PS3 version has:
"the main menu music different on PC and Play Station 3."
Maybe quality is also different.

Did anybody try to rip any console version music, or at least compare 80kbps rip with gameplay?
PS3 and Xbox 360 versions have openable archives with the same QuickBMS specific script on the site.
or by this WAD converter:
https://forum.xentax.com/blog/?p=372

PS4 have to be extracted with diffrent script/method.

I also know that, there is a VR version of L.A. Noire on PC.

"Please note that if there is a VR version it probably uses the UE4 or Unity engine for which are available specific scripts and tools."
