After Season One (Thread 172367) and Season Two (Thread 195109), here comes the third season of Laurie Johnson goodness.

This time round, things were made interesting by the fact that a number of these scores had already appeared on disc one of THE MUSIC OF LAURIE JOHNSON VOLUME TWO anthology. The Professionals music on that 3CD set clearly comes from a different source, as the speed and pitch are different from the Blu Ray isolated score. More importantly, the CD contains unedited versions of some cues. This made it possible to replace whole sections of the Blu Ray tracks if they were dialled out, edited badly, or had audible dialog bleed-through - though I had to alter the speed & pitch and EQ them so that the blend was seamless.

I’ve put an asterisk next to the episode scores that I augmented with CD tracks. In particular, the suite from “Dead Reckoning” relies heavily on music from the CD - the isolated cues are just fragments that are repeated frequently during the episode. I’m very glad I had the CD tracks to fall back on here.

“Fugitive” also uses CD versions where music is dialled out or is completely unused in the episode, including a rather nice opening cue that was probably meant to underscore one of the many scenes involving the female terrorist Christina.

It's worth it as this is masterful gritty orchestral TV scoring we don't have anymore as

Work on Season Four is taking a little longer, I'm afraid. The other three seasons had 13 episodes for me to deal with, whereas season four has 18. That's because they've included the five episodes from the final season (technically Season Five). There's a lot of great new music here, but also a lot of recycling of previous music, which I'm having to select carefully. I don't want to include every note of the previously used tracks because (a) it's a lot more work for me, and (b) it gets very repetitious as a listening experience. I'm about half way through right now.
