While agreeing that the new CHANDOS release of the Elegy is an improvement I would still hanker after the LP version with Peter Mark as a completist of RRB performances.

BTW - Peter Mark married Bennett's contemporary British composer, Thea Musgrave, in 1971. The score to LCL was something of a late wedding present for Musgrave & Mark - Bolt had originally suggested employing a violin solo throughout the movie, but Bennett decided to opt for the viola instead. Because Bennett's score only came in at around 20mins, when it came to preparing the LP soundtrack, Bennett was asked to write something to fill out the second side - so he wrote this Elegy especially for Peter Mark who had already contributed to the film's 'original' soundtrack with the New Philharmonia under Marcus Dodds.
