My sister is a Good Charlotte fan-girl (=/) and was playing there new album the other day.

I found myself tapping my foot to a few of the songs, and enjoying them somewhat.

What does it all mean? ;_________;

Well there's only one Good Charlotte song I like Emotionless, if you read through the lyrics to me it tells how I feel. Their lyrics are generally good but don't really appeal to me.

It means you're going gaywise. There's only one cure, I'm afraid.

It means they come up with some kinda catchy melodies sometimes. Their first album was actually not that bad.

Just simply shoot that foot that was tapping, either that or take some cyanide.....either works I think, well I'm 100% sure about the ol' cyanide.

I like the song Little Things. :(

I usually blame it on a sentimental value type thing, but it still makes me feel like a silly.

Yeah. I discovered a random mp3 on my PC, and played it. I didn't know who it was and liked it.

My sister told me it was GC.

I think its crazy how music is like food. Sometimes, things taste disgusting when you eat them without a blindfold, or something.

People are allowed to like Good Charlotte!

Why do you have to be so open minded? :-(

I've actually never heard GC, myself.

@TK:They so aren't! Because I really am THAT narrow minded!

When I found out who it was, it just came as a surprise, 'tis all.

im not going to make fun of anyone for liking them, but i personally cant stand them, they are a very hypocritical band, singing songs about how poor they are, and how they hate rich people, and how they cant get girls...well maybe not so much that last one, but in their first album i did like a couple of their songs- overall i think that whole poppunk thing is very shallow, and the instrumentals are usually simplistic

Meph

Thats what I'm getting at. Is that most of the stuff they do, I personally find pretty horrid. Then suddenly BOOM! I hear a couple of songs and they're okay.

Pop-punk is a legitimate subgenre that existed when the members of Sum 41 Good Charlotte were in diapers.

Please do not join MTV in dragging it through the mud. =(

You know, that really isn't much of a defense for pop-punk, punk-pop or whatever the hell it is.

"You know, I find to be rather shallow."

"Oh? Allow me to prove you wrong. You see, [insert genre] was around [I]quite a while ago."

Pop-Punk sucks ass anyway

thats my opinion but there are people who love pop punk (i.e. My friend Kallan......he loves Blink 182 and allt hat SHIT)

im more of a thrash metal/death/speed metal fan
and classical music

The point was about judging it based solely on Good Charlotte and the other bands that sound like them. To people these days (as evidenced by our fine friend Wonderer Nick up above me) those bands are all that the genre consists of, which is quite a shame.

Terry-Kun im a very music oriented person i know alot more about the pop punk genre than alot of people its just the fact that i mentioned blink because they are more mainstream pop punk

im know its not all the genre consists of.....trust me i know what the genre consists of.....and yes i do agree it is kinda sad when people judge a Genre soley based on one or 2 bands from the genre

but because i know of alot of pop punk bands through my friend kallan then i can officially say that i dont like the genre....im not basing MY dislike on blink or good charlotte or sum of the older sum-41 albums

speaking of Sum-41 they seem to have got a conpletely different style of music under there belts now

TK
01-01-2005, 08:29 AM
Okay. What are you basing it on, then?

Wonderer_Nick
01-01-2005, 08:35 AM
im basin my dislike for it on the fact that i just prefer other typed of music....for me i need sumthing fast HEAVY and super distorted ....with sscarth/growl vocals and insane instrumental solo's

pop punk doesnt provide that for me

well i guess i dont hate pop punk or even dislike
i just prefer other music

TK
01-01-2005, 08:39 AM
Haha, no, I mean if you've heard so much of the genre and you're not just basing it on bands like Blink 182 and Good Charlotte, I want to know what you listened to that you are basing it on. Just out of curiosity.

Wonderer_Nick
01-01-2005, 08:42 AM
HAHA its a valid question but i cant answer it because i oculdnt remember the names of all the bands my friend showed me if my life depended on it.......

TK
01-01-2005, 08:47 AM
Right then. So how do you know that you were actually getting a legitimate taste of the genre?

Pwned.

Wonderer_Nick
01-01-2005, 08:51 AM
hahaha because i was listening to more than 3 or 4 of the bands in the genre
HENCE FORTH i got a deccent enough taste to be able to make a half fair opinion about the genre

OMG. Next thing you know you'll be penciling on the ol eyeliner, rocking the chuck taylors, wearing two studed belts and hanging with the rest of the gay mall rats spending your parents cash on the new blink 182 cd's and... oh you get the point!

My friend was criticising my taste for The Ramones, The Spazzys, Green Day and such, saying their music was too simplistic and they're wasting their potential talent by doing 'the same old three chord songs'. Then she later told me she liked Good Charlotte. =\

Some people are just lame.

I once was getting fucked with by my friend in a record store for buying the last Strokes album Room on Fire. He was all like "They sold out" while in the process of buying the new limpbizkit.

Well, I don't know. It was a good album and everything but they didn't do anything exciting or special. I like their old ones better to tell the truth. Room on Fire just didn't bring the rock like I thought it would. I still think its a good album, maybe I'd of liked it better if it were their first. I listen to all of them in a pretty healthy rotation.
