Okay I am playing the game a 2nd time and i'm REALLY confused. You know how Tidus KNEW Auron when Auron arrived in Zanarkand? How did he know him? And also...i'm confused about this time period thingy. How did Jecht get to Spira? Because it seemed like the first time Sin attacked Zanarkand at the start of the game.
And...did Auron travel BACK in time to get Tidus?? I'm just really confused i'd appreciate it if someone could answer my questions...or just clear up the whole thing for me...

Well, since I haven't played the game for almost I year I can't remember most of the story details. I think it would be best if you looked around on sites like this: http://faqs.ign.com/articles/432/432338p1.html.

Hope that helped,

Tidus knew Auron because Auron promised Jecht he would look after Tidus so Auron traveled back in time and he had been looking after Tidus for the past few years. At the Beginning of the game was the first time sin attacked Zanarkand, but sin was near Zanarkand while Jecht was out at sea training and jecht got sent 1000 years into the future, just like tidus did. I hope that clears up your questions.

I might be a little off about the jecht thing but I think thats how it went.

OMFG the guy above should never say anything ever again.

* MAJOR spoilers *

RIGHT! (and there may be some discrepancies cos I herd the story ages ago) There are these guys called "fayth" they are dead people that havn't joined the farplane (same as the life stream or Gaia) it's their power that makes summons.

1000 years ago there was a war between Zanarkand and Bevelle. Bevelle was using Machina to fight the war and Zanarkand was using summoners. Bevelle kicked ass. The leader of Zanarkand was a summoner called Yu Yevon and before the Machina armies came to Zanarkand Yu Yevon had everyone in Zanarkand turned into Fayth. You see them, the satues, at Mount Gagazet's summit. They use their combined power summonomg Zanarkand in a dream, the Zanarkand that Tidus came from isn't real, it's a dream. Yu Yevon summoned, using himself as the fayth, "Sin". Sin then destroyed Zanarakand. Then Lady Yunalesca defeated Sin with Lord Zayon as her fayth and Yu Yevon used Lord Zayon as the new fayth to summon the new Sin. Every time that Sin is defeated Yu Yevon summons the new Sin out of the fayth that is used in the destruction of the previous Sin. The fayth of Lord Zayon in Zarakand as you can see is a broken statue this is because he was made into a fayth satue and when he was defeated as Sin the satue was broken.

(This bit may be FULL of inacuracies do feel free to correct me)
The religion that is most widely worshiped in Spira came about because a movement of the the summoners that still remained in the world. They were the only ones that could defeat Sin so people rallied aroud them. This movment became a religion slowly as it was more and more poplular. It was take up as the official religion by the guy that ordered the war between Bevelle and Zanarkand, I forget his name. He was the leader of Bevelle. As the new religion under the control of Bevelle all the information that was around at the time could be controlled by Bevelle so people forgot many of the truths about the war that came out after the war. Stuff like it being "prase to Yevon" were used and the Blitzball sign being holy were mixed together, the "Hymn" was a nonconformist thing against the religion of Bevelle until it was adopted as part of the religion.

Now. Jecht left Zanarkand, how and why arn't explained, he went out of the dream of Zanarkand and entered Spira, in Spira he met Braska (Yuna's farther) and Auron while he was in jail for being drunk. He went with them on the pilgrimage as Braska's gardian. During the pilgrimage Auron and Jecht became firm friends. Braska used Jecht as the fayth in the final summoning so when Braska defeated Sin Jecht became the new Sin. Auron before going on the pilgrimage was a monk of the Bevelle temple and was after the pilgrimage very pissed off because he learnt the truth about the leaders of Spira being slightly dead and wasn't happy about having devoted his life to Yevon. The fact that using the method that they were using at that time to kill Sin would never really kill Sin didn't help his mood. He wanted to take his frustration out on Yunalesca that converted Jecht, his friend, into the final Aeon adn she kicked his ass. He crawled his way out of Zanarkand and down Mount Gagazet dieing jsut outside of Bevelle where he saw Kimhari and told him about Yuna (Braska's daughter). Instead of going on to the farplane he went to the dream of Zanarkand, how isn't expalned, while there he looked after Tidus and never told him about knowing Jecht. Sin (Braska as Sin) then attacked Zanarkand, the bit where you're floating aroud at the start is inside Sin, and you are dumped down near the temple of Anima (i forget what it's called). The attack on Zanarkand that Tidus witnesses and Tidus's earlyest thoughts about what happened to him are ment to confuse us, as the first Sin destroyed an empty Zanarkand, what Tidus saw was his farther taking him to Spira.

I think he was taken there by Sin.

Remember when Auron was talking to Jecht-Sin (and you had no clue why)? In the beginning? "Are you sure about this?" is what he said... (roughly)

I think Sin took Auron there because he had the power to. And then Auron kept his promise to take Tidus to Spira through Sin.

That seems the most logical answer to me, anyway. And what The Sage said.

I haven't played it in a while, but that was a question I asked myself when I was playing it.

Auron also said (in Zanarkand). Since I was dead I was able to ride Sin (or something among those lines)

Jecht had to have been taken to Spira by Sin, nothing else was powerful enough to take someone into the future.

I don't mean to sound mean, but....

There is no "future" and "going back in time". If you think there is, maybe that's what you're getting confused about.

The world that Tidus exists in, and Tidus himself, are just dreams. Spira is reality.

tidus's zanarkand did exist at one time though. it was when yu yevon turned everyone into a faith that it became a dream that way it would never be defeated by bevelle.

How come so much people don't get it? It seemed pretty obvious once the storyline was explained enough in the game.

ok, zanarkand is no more, and tidus was never taken to the future and noone travelled forward or back in time.
before jecht was turned into the final aeon of braska, auron had to promise him to look after his son tidus. from that time on (and after yunalesca killed him), auron dwelled in the dream-zanarkand. he was taken there by jecht/sin, because jecht (of whom there were still traces in the mind of sin) wanted him to be there an look after tidus. auron remained in the dream for ten years, until sin returned and jecht wanted tidus to leave the dream to kill him, in order to release him from the torment of being sin. and that is when tidus finds himself at the sunken ruins in the REAL world spira, but to him it seems as if he had travelled into the future. but he hasn't, he was just taken to REALITY, out of the dream.

but how is sin able to do this? easy, though it is never told clearly. yu yevon is a summoner and somehow connected to the fayth (he perhaps created them himself in the times of the war between zanrkand an bevelle 1000 years ago). so he is able to travel between dream and reality (or at least he can kinda "touch" the dream and take with him what he wants, for example auron).

*do not read any further if you are already confused, though in my opinion everything is clear...*
an interesting thought: obviously, when the fayth summoned the city of zanarkand as it was 1000 years ago and summoned the people who lived there, too, there must have existed a REAL tidus 1000 years ago, right? (if it wasn't so, they would have not been able to "dream him", would they? but in fact that tidus is either already dead for 1000 years or was turned into a dreaming fayth, as well. but that, we really don't know... do you agree?

right! he came there ten years ago (in the real spira noone knew where he was) and has lived in the dream since then.

Like i said in that other thread, two tidus's or jecht's

- the dead ones from a 1000 years ago

- and the dream ones that the fayth summoned

is that right?

I think i've just confused people more now >.< For me the sage's post cleared it up..zanarkand is a dream tidus got taken out of the dream by sin into spira when auron rode sin because he was dead, he rode it into the dream. Which is WHY Auron said when he was dead he was on mt gagazet, which explains how he got to dream zanarkand. coz when he died, the fayth were dreaming on mt gagazet, so he stayed in spira as an unsent and went to get tidus XD
