To me this seems a reality, with exception of ff4 which got a remake, and ff7 which is only a little retro, due to being 17 years old.Ff7 also has movies and a bunch of sequels, some on psp, a pc port with better graphics, and lots of appearances.Ff6 got a crap remake, that made the fanbase angry, because not only was it inferior, but on top of that, they were hoping for a psp port, or a ds, not w shitty phone port that looks worse than the original, and worse music too.

Ff5 and 6 have been neglected, and ff9, and it shows enix only cares about their cash cow 7, and only because it makes money.

I want to add something more:People in the past used stupid arguments against ff7 to trash it, like the graphics, when the technology was rather new at the time. Before that, you had kings field 1 and 2, and later 3, which was the only one I knew about, aside from the ps2 version.

They are in danger just like other good classic games. I believe FF5 and 6 imo have a bigger world and would take some time to make if they were redone (in at least DS graphics in FF4).It honestly seems like square doesn't really want to do anything with older titles except make cell phone games.

I don't think the old style FF games are in danger of fading away. They are afterall the flagship titles of their franchise. Games like them , in terms of gameplay however are more than in danger of it. They are phasing out, the last ATB or Turn Based game I saw released (aside from pokemon) was Bravely Default. As gaming shifts from an interist only a narrow margin (us old fans of gaming) to the modern crowd; Where everybody and their brother plays games. Games will shift their gameplay to match popular playstyles of these massive previous non-gamers. What we will likely see is a change of all FFs from the classic ATB to a fast paced hack-and-slash with FF themes and overtones. Much like how the Demo of FFXV has shown. This doesn't mean that the old FFs are going to fade however, they will always have a fanbase to make them great. That fanbase is always growing and newer fans will be able to play the old FFs with increasing ease on smartphones and tablets etc. Which brings me to another point, I don't think the Smartphone / Tablet port of the early FF games are crappy. In fact, I think it is inovative and the FFVI android / IOS version is a step in the right direction. The more fans that play our beloved FF series the better. Square has more money, which means bigger game development budgets. Which means more FF for us. Plus, who doesn't have a smartphone or Tablet these days. It is only the most logical business choice SE could make.
