"The pilot of a small aircraft, which is believed to have been registered to famed film composer James Horner, was killed when the plane crashed into a remote area about 60 miles north of Santa Barbara on Monday."

"It's unclear how many people were on board the aircraft"

Plane Registered To Film Composer James Horner Crashes North Of Santa Barbara CBS Los Angeles (http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2015/06/22/pilot-killed-in-plane-crash-north-of-santa-barbara/)

If he was aboard the plane, it's a devastating loss.
If he wasn't, it's a tragedy due to the people he knew (it's his plane).

"believed to have been registered to James Horner"

Intrada posted the article on facebook.com a short while ago.

The crash started a brush fire that spread to one acre.

Either way, this is sad news.

It's official, James Horner is dead.

His assistant posted this today: "A great tragedy has struck my family today, and I will not be around for a while. I would like some privacy and time to heal. We have lost an amazing person with a huge heart, and unbelievable talent. He died doing what he loved. Thank you for all your support and love and see you down the road. Love Sylvia."

I am distraught, I'm crying.

From this article (http://mashable.com/2015/06/22/composer-james-horner-plane-crash/):

"Horner's agency did not immediately return messages left Monday evening, and his lawyer told Mashable only that no one had heard from Horner since the crash was spotted about 60 miles north of Santa Barbara."

Considering the crash was this morning, if Horner were able he'd have contacted someone by now. Unless this is some sort of elaborate hoax, it is all but confirmed.

Hello everyone.

I suspected something was a little off when a representative from ABC7 in Los Angeles contacted me through my YouTube channel (NL197) to ask about using some of my videos for their 11pm show. I didn't really think anything of it at first but then, hours later I randomly check facebook on my phone....

I was outside a supermarket and basically collapsed in tears.

Yes, I a 34 year old man collapsed in tears outside on a public street.

I don't really have much to say other than what I posted on my facebook:

My musical hero was lost today, doing what he loved: Flying. James Horner was there through his music to guide me through the toughest of hardships, the most devastating of circumstances, and the greatest of triumphs. His music transcended film and became in integral part of my life, and I am forever grateful for his incredible musical touch. I've lost most of the dearest people in my life, and now I have lost someone I've never known personally, but felt his presence as though I had.

To James Horner.

May you rest above the skies and into heaven.

The only thing I can add to what I've said, and I'm sure I speak for many when I say it, is simply this:

Thank you, James Horner. Thank you.

Truth be told, James Horner wasn't my favorite composer (I don't think I actually have a favorite, though), but I still very much appreciated his music; his "Enemy at the Gates" and "Braveheart" were one of the first pieces in my collection. His passing is very depressing, and hell of a blow for both the industry and the music itself.

I just sat down to eat breakfast, but I don't think I can anymore. What utterly devastating news. I am at a complete loss for appropriate words. And I'm not ashamed to be crying my eyes out right now. I am absolutely gutted. His scores will mean so much more now that he is gone, but the film score community has indeed had a tragic blow. My heart goes out to his family and friends, and also to his long-time collaborators, Cameron and Howard.

If Sony Music doesn't release the complete Titanic score in commemoration, I will want to know why.

RIP James Horner. Your music will always be in my heart.

Such a loss... It is so hard to read the word ''was''. Couple of days ago it still was ''is''... I've never been a very big fan, but today I feel like something's been taken from the inside. His music was partially a guide for me to the wonderful world of film scores and I am thankful for that. I remember Balto now... Heartbroken to hear that my favorite composer has passed away. James Horner has been such a cornerstone and inspiration in my life for pursuing my dreams of someday composing for TV and film. I remember vividly when I first heard his astoundingly beautiful music for Titanic, Glory, Legends of the Fall, The Rocketeer, The Mask of Zorro, The Land Before Time (which I have included), Bicentennial Man...the list goes on. As someone that has collected nearly all of James Horner's scores, listening and studying each and every one I say with a heavy heart that Maestro James Horner will be sorely missed and will always be remembered for his superb contribution to the world of film and concert music. I will keep listening to and sharing his beautiful music with the world because he inspired me to share myself through my music.

After Jerry Goldsmith died his music was never the same again to my ears. And this feeling is even more intense when you've seen the composer live on the podium discussing and conducting his music... Now the same is happening with James Horner. The day I learned about his accident and passing was a sore day to say the least... I keep listening to his music these past few days and it's like going back to my musical roots and traveling back to my student years. It's like reinventing all his music and even if I know some of his scores by heart I keep finding more magic hidden inside... One of the last classically trained composers that served his art through his heart and stayed rebellious about disfiguring his music. Rip JH
