In 1977 Miklos Rozsa entered the world famous Abbey Road Studios in London to record 3 records for Polydor with the world famous Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
The recordings themeselves were equal to the then famous Classic Film Scores series on RCA Records produced throughout the mid 70's
The sound quality on these records was audiophile quality and CD quality or better. I have wanted to copy these 3 Lps for many years and now that dream has come true with Volume 1
here for you all to enjoy. The recordings and music are a legacy to a genius composer and musician.

Its a travesty these classic recordings have never been preserved or released on to CD. I did hear that the tapes for all 3 albums have been lost which is really sad. As a final note these 3 Lps would not exsist if it was not for the work and collaboration of Christopher Palmer now sadly missed also. This also is a legacy to him. Please add some reviews or items about these recordings

The story is that the original tape masters for these marvellous Rozsa recordings have been "lost"! How and why is a mystery - and how a major record label can do this sort of thing is beyond me! So, thanks for your contribution.

Link received. Thank you filmcollector16 for this great post. I have owned a copy of this LP since the late '70s but cannot play it anymore because my old turntable is broken.

These recordings are priceless! Did my own 16bit transfer years ago plus restoration. I think I have to put them in again :-)

Yep, and I posted my two CDS from this series that I had professionally remastered from discs many years ago... and included the inserts that came with the LPs. Hope you have done the same.

I was told a hundred years ago that the master tapes went missing from the vaults.

So.... this music is up for grabs. The suites are in many ways better than the original soundtracks.

I was told a hundred years ago that the master tapes went missing from the vaults.

Sadly true.....I work on film music restorations for a small German CD label and a couple of years ago we went out on a limb to maybe release these recordings from the original masters. I contacted Universal and actually got a reply....that the tapes are lost. Such a shame....if well done LP transfers sound breathtaking just imagine how a proper remastering from the original masters would sound!
