This is an extended remastering of the Harry Warren, George & Ira Gershwin sound track score from the 1949 MGM film, THE BARKLEYS OF BROADWAY, Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers' final film together and their only one in colour. This version has all of the musical numbers in the film including the four featured on the original MGM 2 disc 78 album but in extended versions. There are two edits of "They Can't Take That Away from Me"; track 6 is the version as mixed for the album with Fred Astaire's vocal refrain but with extended dance music cut from the album, probably because it was too long to fit on a single 10 inch 78 side. Track 8 is the version as used in the film. The album was assembled from a combination of the MGM Records sound track album & acetate playback discs transferred by studio technicians to inch audio tape in the 1950s.
