Hello fellow Barryists!, I bring you happiness in the shape of a digital download. This la-la records release includes barry rejected score and colombier more modern approach. Sometimes composers are too good for a movie, it happened many times with Jerry Goldsmith, and in this case happened with barry. Perhaps his approach was a bit outdated, my recollection of the film is not very good, though 80s action films tend to be awesome (just watched yesterday Cobra, so, so wrong, and yet so fun), but how can you reject a john barry score?

Great to have this one in flac now ! For some reason I like the Colombier score a lot more although Barry's music is great on it's own, I think they wanted some more punch in the score (after all, it was an Eddy Murphy in his glorydays). Thx for the bargain of the week !

yep, I think that was the rationale behind it, and you could actually understand it, but its john barry, that already was incredible he'd work for such a cheapo movie, Id never dared to reject his score, but yes, barry probably was lacking motivation, and to be fair, the producers cut around half an hour so barry's work was going to suffer as much as the plot itself

let me know if any of you experience trouble opening the rar file, Ive tested it and seems to be working fine but one user had/has difficulties.

Awsum share hail's hail's hail's....

Had this 3-cd release from La La and sold it. Preferred the Colombier score - definitely suits the film better. Barry was a massive talent and I love his '60s and '70s stuff for the most part but his score for The Golden Child is not great.
