Rather than quoting only portions of Sparktank's exhaustive post, I was (and still am) working on a complete edit of Oblivion. All the iso rips people have posted seem lacking. Some don't include the entire score, most are very low in sound quality and none of them include the source cues. Mine has every single piece of audio heard in the entire film (including the source cues) and I have tweaked the audio a pinch so it's not as quiet. Planning to have it up by Sunday

most are very low in sound quality

I find surround sound scores to be mastered in lower volumes.
I've had to do peak normalization on several end credits because they were mastered for (loud system) surround sound environments.

No Country For Old Men end credits is extremely quiet when downmixed to stereo if not altered.

I can't speak for the other versions shared here but the edit Sparktank shared has every piece of score from the isolated score except the two source cues.

You are right, the two source cues are missing but you can find them on the web and add them easily at the end of the tracklist (or in the middle but that wouldn't be a good listening experience).

If you would share the sessions, well, that would be something different.

Wrong. There's a small cue I've called "Viewscope Flash" that plays the first time Jack is at The Empire State Building. I didn't see it in several of the other versions. Not to mention it's the film mixes. Almost all cues crossfade with each other (no cues fading in and out, give or take a few) and yes, even the film edits of the source cues.

Other versions have the cues overly long (I recall some pieces are up to 9 min in length) and that's very unnecessary. This edit is for me and I planned on posting it just for those who are interested. Clearly you're not, but I can't find a fuck to give about that. I apologize.

It's on purpose that there are no fade-outs and fade-ins! Otherwise you would shorten the cues and miss some seconds. That's why the tracks are untouched.

So, if you make your own edit, it's fine but don't say there will be every piece of music included if you fade-in & fad-out the cues.. because that's not possible.
You can either leave the cues as they are on the bluray and you'll have every piece of music or you can cut the tracks and fade them in & out and lose some of the music.
Only if the sessions is posted you will have both.

Or make sure it looks like a real suicide.

youve never suicided someone, have you?
you DONT leave the body where s/he... killed himself. you take it with you, place it in a suitcase/container of choice, then bury him in a wasteland.
alternatively, chop the corpse into pieces, feed to dogs, dispose of bones.

and before you say "but neighbors will surely see you". youll be surprised how very unlikely that is.

of course you have to make sure you suicide him cleanly. its a lot of work cleaning brain matter on a wall and furniture. the chances of leaving evidence is 90% that way. so always carry a can of bleach, a sponge, and some towels. DO NOT use anything from the house.
DO NOT take anything from the house, at least anything that the two people who gave a shit about the person WILL notice its gone, and cannot be commonly be taken with you when you go out.

the point of leaving no trace is to not make it obvious the person has been suicided.

Animals/pets are wonderful if you're an animal person, like myself. Even chickens make surprisingly lovely pets. But some people just aren't animal people, I guess. :p

Dogs smell if they're dirty. Cats don't smell (trust me, I've had 5 over the years). And sometimes neither cats nor dogs leave hair everywhere. Depends on what breed they are.

I dunno about Monstropolis' year of permission to vote, but this October I turn 18, so I'll be able to vote for November's GENERAL elections too, but honestly I don't wanna vote. I won't. I hate politics. I don't trust nobody there honestly.

The age of permission to vote is 18 here too, so I've been old enough for a couple of years, but the general elections here are every 5 years, so this is the first general election I can vote in.

Oh, me too. Politicians are a horrid bunch. But I'm not going to waste the opportunity to 'have my say', whether or not it actually makes a difference. I'll vote to show my appreciation of our 'democracy' lol.

I hate politics as well, but I still vote. You go for the lesser of the two evils. Some politicians I honestly do believe want to do good to America, some (like the current asshole in the White House) I believe want to cause harm. That's the truth, it's what I believe. I voted against him twice, I pray the 3rd time is the charm and the candidate I vote for next year wins the presidency.

I know people who do note vote - they think it helps, which honestly, it doesn't. If there's someone you don't want to win, then you vote for the opposite candidate. Vote against them. I tried convincing my one friend this back in 2012. She didn't want either Romney or Obama, but she disliked Obama more. So what do you do? Vote Romney cause it's 1 less vote towards Obama.

Just please for the love of God, do not vote for Hillary if she ends up becoming the Democratic candidate.

I agree. Unless all the candidates are evil, evil people, you have a civic duty to cast your vote.

I have a very poor grasp of politics - although I know that 95% of those ruddy politicians are after nothing but money - but around election time I always try to pay attention to what the candidates are saying... and, if necessary, choose who is the lesser of two evils.

I just finished watching A Matter of Loaf and Death, Wallace and Gromit's latest short subject. I liked it. Aardman did it again, I mean in the way of making super lovable characters. They made me like the homeless dog in Shaun the Sheep Movie, and now Fluffy, what a cutey! I want to see her in more stuff in a future, she's really cute and well designed even

Fluffy was the only good thing about that film. I was so disappointed when I watched it on TV when it came out 5 years ago over Christmas. It's nowhere near the quality of the originals. They've turned Wallace into an utter retard (pardon my language). I know he's meant to be stupid, but he should be loveably stupid, not gratingly, frustratingly, annoyingly, ridiculously stupid. And the plot was just LAME: A lady who flies in a hot air balloon for a bread commercial eats too much bread, becoming too fat and heavy to fly in the balloon and therefore looses the job. Because of this, she goes on a killing rampage, seducing and murdering twelve bakers, picked seemingly at random, the last of whom is going to be Wallace, who now happens to be a baker. Yes, believe it or not, that is the actual plot of the movie.

Gromit has some great moments as always, and saves the day, as usual, but as a whole, the film stinks. Way to ruin a sweet, funny franchise.

James P.Sullivan
05-20-2015, 06:24 PM
I think you're just being too overly nostalgia blinded.

The originals were an essential part of my childhood! I have a right to be nostalgic!!! :p

The originals didn't have that much to it other than innovation, brilliant animation and the little bit of surprise factor. This special wasn't as terrible as you put it.

Everything about the originals (especially The Wrong Trousers) just oozes brilliance in every category! What did Loaf and Death have that the originals didn't?!

James P.Sullivan
05-20-2015, 07:12 PM
The problem is when that nostalgia blinds you and you expect too much from anything Wallace and Gromit related. :P Loaf and Death had nothing like the originals, yet it doesn't make it a bad special at all.

To be honest, if Nick Park has successfully made not one, not two, but three brilliant films with the same characters, then he should be able to do it again.

As a film, W&G aside, Loaf and Death simply had a terrible plot. If it had had a better story, it would have been fantastic. A proper murder mystery would have been great, and I'm sure they would have done it very well, but this was a very lame murder mystery that required Wallace to be as mind-numbingly stupid as a brick.

Hold on, hold on. The rap genre nowadays is incredibly nuanced, you can't be so reductionist. I will agree that post MMLP Eminem is shameless but Run The Jewels has produced back-to-back gems, Flying Lotus had a phenomenal outing with You're Dead! and Kanye's borderline avant-garde endeavors in Yeezus and Dark Twisted Fantasy are indisputable classics. I know the list of where to find value in rap is a very, very thin one but which artists have you been listening to?

I shit you not that's the very first thing that popped into my mind when I found out. I read "interested in: women" and for a second my heart sank and then a split second later "THREESOME" popped into my head. I've been talking about it with my friend for the past few days now. I'm not surprised, though. As long as there's another woman in there, I'm sure she's open to it. I don't work with her this week, but I'm trying to pick up a shift on Thursday when she's on. Believe me, I've been planning this :D

Specially when it's two lesbian girls involved.

I fail to see why'd they want a dick if they're lesbians though. But really, good luck. You'll need it. xD

Well I'll start out by asking if she's (or if she has a friend with her, "they've") ever had dick. If not, we're going all the way. OK that's enough sex talk for now, back on topic! :p

I'm a metal fan, so rap-wise I only listen to whatever Anthony Fantano tells me to, but I definitely don't see where you're coming from. I've heard a lot of great rap this year, and I'm oblivious to like 98% of what's out there. (Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp a Butterfly is epic.)

Is there any pirate around who would kindly share/tell me where to download a full blu ray rip of SPIRIT: STALLION OF THE CIMARRON?

PLEASE. I NEED THAT.

I have a 1920x800 mp4 rip, not sure where I got it. They're around...

Ahh, here it is. YIFY (https://yts.to/browse-movies/Spirit:%20Stallion%20of%20the%20Cimarron/all/all/0/latest) can be hit-or-miss. If you're looking for a film and need subtitles hardcoded, then don't use YIFY. For mp4, anyway. I always look for mp4 so I can add it to iTunes and watch on my Apple TV. But this is more than likely the copy I downloaded

Ok, ok man, you got me. I like being miserable about stuff (lol) so i listened to the absolute bottom of the Barrel, for example Young Thug, Chief Keef, Lil Wayne, 2 Chains, etc.

Of course there are still good Records being produced nowadays, but shouldn't those be raking in the Big Bucks as opposed to those Wankers ? It makes me angry.

Kanye never clicked with me, and honestly i don't have a clue why he got so much praise for his Music.

Nowadays it's hard for me to like Rap, only one that really comes to mind is Action Bronson.

I just miss the good old days of Gang Starr, Non Phixion (especially Goretex), Arsonists, Mobb Deep, Insight, Hieroglyphics, Mos Def, Jedi Mind Tricks, among others.

DAK, I am loving the conviction. Remember, where there is a will there is a way #Rohypnol4Lyf (self-evidently facetious comment is facetious)

JPS, it's a notion heavily susceptible to the dispositions and sexual proclivities of those involved, but I see no reason why an experience of that kind or even, more broadly, polyamory can't be intimate. In the end, anything on the sexual spectrum is inherently intimate. To some extent, in the eyes of the actor, even the most depraved fantasy has some "higher" (though not necessarily spiritual) meaning. Simply read Barthes who in almost everything he ever wrote, would find ways to convey very compelling (and graphic) illustrations of sodomy as a visceral and sentimental connection between people of the highest order.

My 3 female friends are currently taken and I've known them for almost 10 years. I wouldn't screw up friendship over something like that. I only have 2 female coworkers (who are around my age), only one of which there's a sexual attraction to. 2 may be intimate, but 3 is a par-tay :D

You really think you could make a difference of a 40gb Blu-ray untouched rip vs. even a 3gb blu-ray 1080p rip? Lol.

Umm... You chose a pretty poor example. A 3 GB two-hour film has poorly compressed audio and a really bad case of pixelitis. It's borderline-unwatchable on anything other than mobile devices. I can see the appeal in having untouched blurays for archival purposes, but still think it's a stretch. I like to keep mine within the 15-20 GB range. Obviously, whenever that's not possible due to technological disparities, enter the Criterion Collection (the only discs I buy nowadays).

Edit: Btw, I am currently ordering chow mein for 7 at 1:45 am and what a reasonably objective person could describe as "industrial amounts" of sak. The specific circumstances make this often trodden path, suddenly unexplored territory for all of us; entering with bizarre expectations. And for some strange reason the music from that scene in King Kong with all the insects is playing in my head.

I disagree, I have a web download of Chappie. (Which is probably an iTunes Digital Copy, or something of that sort) It may not be Blu-ray quality audio and picture, but I still can enjoy the film on my TV.

The difference between 720p and 1080p is negligible at best.

You can enjoy a Web-DL just fine, the same way you could enjoy an untouched Blu-ray.

Unless it's for archival or editing purposes, downloading an untouched Blu-ray is a waste of time & hard drive space.
