Its unlikely...although with the new film and games being released, Square 'might' decide to update 7.

They are going to remake FF7 for the PS2 with new secrets and better graphics.

I think they are going to invent a way to fight Sapphire Weapon and I know they will add bonus quests, areas, and battle arena difficulties.

Theres supposed to be so many, like FFVII: Dirge Of Cerberus and that other one for the mobile phone, Before Crisis.
In my opinion, no remake will be better then the original.

Hmm there are a lot of things they 'could' do to FF7 but i guess we'll just have to wait and see

Where have you heard this? Everything I've heard about a remake of FF7 was proven to be a rumor.
And unless production is halfway finished on it, I doubt it would be a remake for the PS2, since FF12 is supposed to be the last Final Fantasy for the PS2 format...

But... it would be nice if it was true :)

To be honnest the only reason I bothered with Yuffie was so that I could get Leviathan, I never had much use for her after that...

Maybe this time, if they do remake it, they could at least finish the the game, rather than rushing it to be completed. And if they do remake it, i am guessing it will be when FFVII is regarded as a classic, like FF1-6 are now.

Everyone is saying there is going to be a remake of FF7..or a possible FF7-2 or something like that..and the only reason is because Square made FFX-2. People were thinking if they could a make a direct sequel of FFX, why not FF7? As a video game designer.. I know a thing or two about these things, and i don't need proof to back my words up. Sometimes its not the share of the overall popularity vote its the money and balance of things that counts.

In plain english now.. It means that if Square thought it would make a helluva bundle of money making a direct sequel to FF7 or a remake then they would mix that in with what the votes of the people and they would usually start planning it.

But with FFX-2, Square-Enix was experimenting new ways in order to expand the FF story, the moral question in FFX? "What really happened to Tidus?" or "How did yuna react to Tidus's disappearance." In order for FF7 to have a rpg sequel it would have to have the a good moral question like that one. As for a remake, well like i said..It would mean money..and popularity vote. ^_^

However Square-Enix is two busy planning other upcoming FF titles..so its a fat chance. I am not saying that anyone is wrong..but try to think about it.

There is NO CONFIRMED REMAKE FOR FINAL FANTASY VII.

Square Enix has only ever remade TWO of their games - the first two. If you're waiting for a remake of Final Fantasy VII, you'll be waiting for a while yet.

All of these Final Fantasy VII movies/games are the sequels/prequels/whatever that people have been asking for, but Square Enix has not said they are going to change the original in any way. Final Fantasy VII is great how it is.

Having an updated FF7 on the ps2 would be awsome! Although FF7 on the ps1 is awsome already, a new release FF7 would rock. =-O

Three important things:

FFVII is NOT being remade for Playstation 2. There were some initial talks but Square ultimately decided that they did not have the hardware available to remake it the way they would want to so the project has been put on indefinite hold. In other words, if they do remake it, which is still very likely, it wont be on the PS2 and it wont be released for at least 3 - 4 years from now. The original FFVII remake project has been split into these FFVII spinoff projects that we see now as Dirge and Advent.

For God sake's people! Don't any of you actually understand the story?! Aerith HAS to die! Not Yuffie, not anyone else- it HAS to be her. Her death is the only way to save the planet, and it has to be her cause she's pure and an ancient. If you want Yuffie to die then you have to make Yuffie the good girl and yuffie the last ancient and yuffie the love interest etc etc etc. It doesn't work any other way! Just because you really liked Aerith's character doesn't make it a good case for her not to die. Unfortunately a lot of the people on here are very young and haven't had too much exposure to the reality of grief, but in reality people that you really really like- good people like Aeirth's character, die everyday. FFVII's overarching story is about how one person makes sacrifices for the greater good, which is a major theme in asian culture. If Aerith didn't die the planet would not have been saved and the story wouldn't be nearly as effective. Stop complaining and appreciate the ingengious storytelling the game gives us. If you want a more happy go lucky bed of roses RPG you should find something geared to a younger audience.

FINALLY, if you want to play FFVII on your nice home theater setup try doing what I did. Using an ATI All in Wonder 9600+ with component out adapter (and adjusting the image with Powerstrip software) I attatched my PC to my high def display. If you have an LCD or Plasma you may have VGA in or maybe even a DVI in that will provide very little overscan of your image. Use a playstation emulator to play your FFVII CDs and use the image enhancement functions the emulator provides. This surprisingly gives a much better image than even what the PC version of FFVII provides.

They personally mailed me back (how nice of them :-D ) and told me that they were redoing 7,8, and 9 with better graphics and voices. Now that's what the letter said. But it's very possible that they got caught up with other things (new FFs etc.) and they decided to drop it because they didn't have the time. Instead they're making the compilation I guess- and that's great!

I think they should make it the same game with a few optional bosses such as a saphire weapon but not new weapons and such and they should keep aeris dead becuase if they made a way to revive her it would ruin the emotional drama of that aspect of the game instead of people going shit shes dead and feeling sad theyll just say oh well ill get to revive her.

A remake would be nice, if only because it'd actually make people paly it. Most people I told to play it got bored of the old grpahics and lack of voice acting.
And I also heard FF12 was the last FF they were gonna make, PERIOD. This was 4 years ago, and I'd suppose Square liked the idea of getting more gold to line their pockets with.
And a further thing: Why would would there be a battle with Sapphire Weapon? Was there any mention of it's name in FF7? Did we see Sapphire raise frm the ground when the Weapons awakened? I reckon myself it was just Emerald Weapon who they shot and wounded, nothing more. But that's just me. And Aeris doesn't need to come back from the dead. It'd be crap.

As The Passenger said. It would be useful because it would encourage those who stated at FFX plus to play it. Plus Final Fantasy VII would be made perfect with voice acting and better graphics imo.
