Here is some delightful and powerful music written by Greek composer Manos Hadjidakis for Aristophanes’ classic comedy, Ornithes “Les Oiseaux” (The Birds). The play with Hadjidakis’ new score was premiered in 1964 by the Athens' "Theatre of Art" of Director Karolos Koyn and also by Maurice Bejart Ballet Theatre in Paris. The work is written for a mezzo-soprano, two baritones and chorus. It has remained one of the most important and versatile works of Hadjidakis, but is seldom performed today. This recording dates from the early 1960s and was released by Columbia/EMI in Europe and Japan and on Epic Records briefly in the US. A 1999 remastered version was released on CD by EMI Greece in 2010. This new remix of Hadjidakis brilliant score was mastered from a 50 year old inch reel to reel copy of the original master tape and the DSD process used preserves the analog warmth and bass more closely than any previous version, in my opinion. Every note of the glorious music of Manos Hadjidakis is a celebration of what it means to be Greek. As the Roman princess & historian, Anna Komnena once said: “All Greeks are related by blood; to be born with Greek blood is the greatest honour and duty for any man.”

I'm really touched by your kind words, Steviefromalaska.
I am proud to be Greek, although some idiots from EEC have decided to destroy us.
Thank you so much for your great upload!
