This thread pertains to animated TV shows/movies centered on DC.

People were disappointed that Beware The Batman ended after just one season, I agree. It wasn't as great as Batman TAS, but let's be honest here. Nothing will. But Beware The Batman was still a good show.

My favorite shows:
Batman TAS - I didn't like the revamp version much though. Too many favorites to start naning them.

Superman TAS - It was a great Superman show. Some of my favorite episodes were the Batman crossovers, the Darkseid and Braniac episodes, Speed Demons (The Flash crossover), the
Supergirl episodes (Little Lost Girl)

Batman Beyond - The music is just great here. I clean or exercise/workout to this music LOL!!! As a fan of Batman, it is tough for me to watch it sometimes. The first episode where Bruce struggled to save the female hostage, took off his mask and said never again, Barbara Gordon (she seemed bitter towards Bruce and unlike her father, claims she can't/doesn't want to see Batman.) Many cite the JLU episode, Epilogue as the real conclusion.

Justice League/JLU - The only issues I have here is how important they made Superman and how vulnerable they made Batman. It seemed as if this show should've been called Superman's League. Granted, he wasn't always strong. But he was a lot. In the Divided We Fall episode, Green Arrow said the Justice League needs Superman as if they other founding members don't matter. All the founding members were important as they brought something unique to the group. Batman...yes he has no superpowers like the other founding members have. But they made him too vulnerable. Also, whether he was in costume or not, he always used his Bruce Wayne voice. His deep Batman voice heard in Batman TAS was not present in this show.

Straight To DVD movies:
I've enjoyed the Batman ones, especially the ones where Kevin Conroy voices him although the other individuals who've voiced him aren't bad.
The Justice League ones are good though I didn't enjoy Throne of Atlantis that much.
Superman's had some good ones too.

Yes! A shame that Batman beyond has only a handful of released tunes from that OST back in 2000 or whenever... I'd love to have more!

Epilogue in my eyes is the real ending to the DCAU, not Destroyer.

Aside from Phantasm, Return of the Joker, and Batwoman, I don't think any of the other DC Animated films are part of the DCAU.

I like the Justice League animated films.
The Superman standalone films are okay. Not as fun as the JL.

But, I think with each film having their own animation style is going to affect how well it's received.
Throne of Atlantis is drastically different than earlier styles.
I tend to like the early ones more. The animation is more pleasing and conventional.

It's not as bad as Gotham Knight, however.
I didn't like the drastic difference at all in that one.
(same goes for Animatrix, but that's a different studio)

While the stories and dialogue could use some work, the music for each has been a hoot.
Probably the biggest thing why I try to keep up with them.

I really love The Dark Knight Returns (deluxe, watched as one).
Seeing Bats get all fed up like that reminds me of The Killing Joke.

Batman Under the Red Hood was equally great.
I just love that Joker.
It wasn't Mark Hamill, but I think DiMaggio delivered a memorable Joker.

TROTJ was really my first Batman animated film to watch.
I barely remember Mask of the Phantasm. I only saw it in parts.

Before I even grasp everything in the scope of those films, I really need to sit through and watch TAS and Beyond.
TROTJ was great as a stand-alone film. You can easily figure out what's going on. They don't make it cryptic with thousands of references to the series that you need to watch the series first.

I really like it when...

Plays as The Green Lantern.

Dude, Mask of the Phantasm is great!
If you love B:TAS you will love this movie and the score is really good too!
The Dark Knight Returns, Under the Red Hood, Wonder Woman and Justice League: Doom are my favorites.

@TheSkeletonMan939:

By Destroyer, I assume you're referring to the last Justice League Unlimited episode. I always thought that was the end of the DCAU because two of the main characters, Darkseid and Luthor "died." Remember, they both held the Anti-Life Equation, then disappeared. Epilogue was the real ending to Batman Beyond, but since that episode centers on Terry McGuiness/Batman and he's only one character out of many in the DCAU, I cannot see that episode as the ending to the whole universe.

I agree with you on the music though. Officially released OST's have a tendency to miss a big portion of material. Sometimes, they release anniversary/limited editions containing originally missed stuff, but it's really annoying. They should just release everything the first time. La-La-Land Records has done a great job on this though. Yeah they're high priced. But their Superman TAS and Batman TAS sets haven't missed anything although not all episodes are covered. A good number of episodes are though via separate volumes. A small minor thing I'm curious about is why they release music from random episodes on each set. Why not just have episodes in order or Volume 1 covering all season 1 episodes, all season 2 on volume 2, etc? Hopefully LLL will cover Batman Beyond and JL/JLU as no music from JL/JLU has been released yet.

Having recently watched Son of Batman and Batman Vs. Robin as a kinda extended film together, I really love what DC do with their animated stuff. Admittedly, most of what I get is bat-related but I did also get some of the Superman animated films for my birthday last year and they were real enjoyable.

Nothing really beats Under the Red Hood and the first forty-odd episodes from Batman: The Animated Series, though. I wish they'd bring Bruce Greenwood back for another pass at Batman. He was perfect.
