The list was topped by Bob Dylan's anthem Like A Rolling Stone, and followed by the Stone's Satisfaction and Lennon's Imagine.

Overall I think the list was pretty good. Certainly not my ideal one, but they could have done so much worse.

The list is absolute shite.......I mean I knew Rolling Stone (the magazine) disliked Radiohead, but I'd have thought they'd have enough sense to put either 'Karma Police,' 'Street Spirit,' and 'Paranoid Android' in the top 10 (well all 3 should be in the top 10.) Rolling Stone suck.

As long as Pachelbel's Canon and some Guns n Roses are on there, I'll be content not to bitch :)

Your entitled to your opinion, but don't be so quick to elevate yours above all others. I never claimed the list was some sort of definitive standard. Radiohead is on the list twice, from what I remember, for Paranoid Android and Fake Plastic Trees, two songs that aren't even in their personal top five in my opinion. No need to get up in arms over it. It isn't my ideal list either, it's not supposed to be, but overall I think they did much better than what I initially anticipated.

I'm not actually angry, I never buy the magazine anyway. Just seemed abit of a useless list anyway....I mean it has all the obvious classics on there that are put in, like 'Like A Rolling Stone' and 'A Day In The Life' everybody knows whats going to be on these lists, just seems abit silly to keep on putting out more or less the same list over and over again.

I think it's a bit much to say that any song deserves to be in the top 10 of a "500 greatest of all time" list. Let alone 3 by the same band.

I haven't seen the list though. I saw the magazine in a class but didn't bother to check it out. Though I did think about it a little bit.

Yep. The higher ranked songs have a bit more said of course, but even No. 500 (More Than a Feeling *shudder) got 56 words.

Well, there's all sorts of great stuff that was left out, but that's to be expected on a list like this, especially when it comes to more obscure stuff.

I don't really think those songs are the "500 greatest of all time", but there are plenty of good tunes on this list.

Some of the stuff did seem a little silly to me though. "Dancing in the Streets" in the top 50?

I'd like to read the actual article to see why they chose some of the songs they did.

I was glad to see the Pixies on the list, even if only once.

I do like my GnR. But from what i've heard the list sucked, from what i've seen, it seems like it sucks, and from just hearing the idea of the list and where it came from i would assume it would suck

Bob Dylan is awesome, but really, lets be honest here, 'Like A Rolling Stone' is definitley not his best song.

Usually, lists like these post more popular stuff by the artists then their best stuff though.

Music is personal choice.
So a list by a magazine will probably come down to one persons final say, hence their personal choice.
Which is why lists are dumb imo.
